T.I. and wife set to host Alzheimer’s event

T.I. may be receiving a fair share of bad press lately, but the rapper turned the spotlight on a worthy cause over the weekend in Atlanta. Tip and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle hosted a luncheon for their foundation “For the Love of Our Fathers,” which raises money for disease research and offers relief to caregivers. Tiny’s father has the brain disorder and T.I. said his father and grandmother also had the disease when they died.

“It’s very, very personally close to our family,” Tip told the AP. “And while I was, you know, while I was going through my … period of hiatus, Tameka had the idea of … starting this foundation. And I thought it was an outstanding idea.”

As for the couple’s recent arrest on drug charges, T.I. declined to comment, saying, “We’re not going to talk much except for Alzheimer’s.” – Of course! With T.I. album being pushed back to support his box office disaster “Takers” maybe it’s time T.I. picks up the peices of what is left of his career and for god’s sake put out a record already! T.I. pushes back “King Uncaged” to push forward “Takers”

Rap star T.I. has announced that his upcoming album, “King Uncaged” will now come out next month. According to the rapper he has just really focused on promoting his new movie, “Takers“. He told us: “I pushed the album back so I can completely focus my attention to the rollout and release of this film “Takers“. I feel it wouldn’t be fair to the film or the album if I was splitting my attention span amongst the two, so I hit pause on the album to completely focus my attention to rolling out this here film.

“Once we prayerfully debut No. 1-25-plus, 20-plus million, then after those bottles have been popped and that celebration is underway, I will completely re-submerge myself back into the music, fully on album mode.” In other T.I. news, the rapper made an epic comeback in a concert that was held in New York earlier this week and he was joined onstage by the likes of Mary J. BligeSwizz Beatz and B.o.B. R&B singer Keri Hilson and rappers Cam’ron and Maino also made appearances.

After the show Tip took to his Twitter page and posted: “Special thank you to Axe for providing a magical night for my 1st concert back!! SO (shout out) to my partners for holding me down tonight- Mjb, Keri, Cam, MAino, Ricco, Swizz, B.” – In all fairness, not 100% shocked that the album was pushed back…really come on now this is T.I. we are dealing with here. Swizz Beatz tells us about T.I. and his progression

Fresh off Drake‘s album with “Fancy”, Swizz Beatz (pictured with his two kids) talks to us about how T.I.‘s both film and album are coming along since they’ve been pushed back! Swizz said that T.I. is looking to out-do some of his past hits with the tracks on this forthcoming project titled “King Uncaged“.

The Hip-Hop producers and now Alicia Keys‘ new partner said “What we just did is bigger than those. It’s bigger than “Swing Ya Rag“, it’s bigger than all of those. We’re growing as artists. That’s one of the things I wanted to focus on with Tip, was: ‘We did that already. We don’t need to compete with nobody. You up there.’ Everything we gotta do, we gotta stay leaders. That’s how we got to where we at now.” – Needless to say many Swizz Beatz tracks do well on the Hip-Hop/Rap scene, only looking a few months back with Jadakiss‘ “Who’s Real” only demonstrates the talent that Swizz Beatz has.

He then went on to say “He gave me his OK on that. Gave me the clear lane. And we’re gone. Trust me on that. The first joint, it’s nice. Crazy! The second joint is taking the world over. It’s a positive message, and I’ll let him explain the rest of the story, because he would be glad to. It’s very musical, but still with that swag in it.” – T.I.‘s “King Uncaged” and film “Takers” is scheduled for release this year. Read the rest of this entry »

T.I. gets advice off Diana Ross and takes on Chris Brown in movie!

Rapper T.I. has decided to keep his lips sealed when asked about his forthcoming wedding to his fiancée, Tameka ‘Tiny’ Cottle.

Tip said that legendary singer Diana Ross helped him realise that some things in life should be kept private. He told us: “Why offer people the opportunity to have an opinion about something they shouldn’t have an opinion about? One thing Diana Ross told me, she said, ‘You’ve got to keep something to yourself.’ I just feel like that’s something private, that’s between us.”

Tiny recently confirmed in an interview that her and T.I.‘s wedding will take place sometime before the end of 2010. In addition to this, T.I. is starring in new action-packed thriller “Takers”. The movie, which is due for release next month, also features efforts fromMatt Dillon, Idris Elba, Zoë Saldana and fellow musician, Chris Brown.

T.I. was surprised at how good Brown’s acting skills were when they were filming on set, “Chris was cool, man. I think Chris gonna impress a lot of people. He does a lot of high performance, action sequences. He shows his ability. I think people will actually be presently surprised with his performance.”

The two had previously worked together on a track before T.I. went to prison last year. Read the rest of this entry »

T.I’s “King Uncaged” gets pushed back…again

That’s right! T.I. fans are going to have to wait a lot longer than than expected to get their hands on his new album. The rapper’s highly anticipated “King Uncaged“ LP has been pushed back from it’s original release date of August 17th to September 28th. This news comes as a surprise to many as the album’s 1st promo single, ”I’m Back“, has already climbed to #44 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #12 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with little promotion.

We should all be used to Warner Brothers by now! We all know they never stick to their release dates; to be honest I wouldn’t be surprised if the album gets pushed back to December! I sense that this decision is probably related to conflicts with T.I.’s current promotional schedule for his new movie, “Takers”. Undoubtedly his label wants to ensure that his album gets sufficient attention. Furthermore, as T.I. chose to use the 2010 BET Awards to promote ‘Yeah Ya Know (Takers)’ from the ‘Takers’ soundtrack instead of his own project, he missed out on a major opportunity for exposure. Indeed, this decision may prove to be wise in the long run.

Although this has probably allowed all the tracks from the project to be leaked on the net, thus killing all suspense for the album. I still find it really hard to understand why T.I. didn’t just make the “King Uncaged” album the sound track to the movie “Takers”? – But hey, we will be seeing “King Uncaged” finally uncaged on the 28th September 2010! – we hope that is!
