Rihanna in London town…
Oct 6th
If you where in London, and saw a red light in the sky, it wasn’t a shooting star – it was just Rihanna’s hair! Yes red Rihanna jetted to London this week to preview her album to press and of course go shopping!
What’s better than shopping with Rihanna? Having Rihanna shop for you! The pop star played personal stylist to five girls, who won a competition to meet the singer and have her style them at Topshop Oxford Circus in London, this week. Rocking a “She Died for Perfection” shirt and long tulle skirt with heels and socks, the red-haired fashionista picked out a few items including a pair of leopard heels.
Looks like RiRi is dying for some UK love, when after her label Island Def Jam where shocked to see the poor sales of Rihanna’s “Rated R” in the UK despite the the X-Factor performance of “Russian Roulette“. Island Def Jam expect Rihanna’s much awaited new LP “LOUD” to be what it’s called! The album is set to open at number one on the billbaord hot 100 and has already certified Gold in album pre-orders alone! “Only Girl (In The World)” according to some Rihanna fans is set to be RiRi’s 8th number one single. Rihanna set to judge International Songwriters Competition
Jul 17th
Urgh! Rihanna, yet again has managed to pull her self into some sort of lime light. The stage walker and “Rude Boy” singer has been selected to be a judge at the upcoming International Songwriters Competition. The Competition results in 66 winners including a grand prize winner who will share more than $150k in cash and prizes, with the with the top scorer earning $25′k in cash and $20k in prizes. Rihanna joins a list of other artists and industry heads including Timbaland, Kings of Leon and Peter Gabriel.
Now, let me put this in the nicest way possible (please give me a moment) – Rihanna is not a talented singer in any sense of the word and she is definitely not a songwriter, so it is quite baffling that she could be expected to judge such a competition. In fact, most of the material included on her own projects is actually handed to her, along with the direction of her music and image. It’s all carefully calculated by her label.
I mean maybe they put her on there to just fill up a seat? With such a talented panel and a presence of a R&B star (Timbaland) already there, I mean what would possess you to place Rihanna on any (let alone a song-writing competition) sort of panel? Really, what was the need? I can only imagine of how worse this can get! I mean what is next for Rihanna? A place as a judge American Idol judging panel? – I mean if that goes down then I might have to shut this site! Read the rest of this entry »
