Eminem’s “Recovery” certified double platinum

Eminem has a lot to be thankful for this summer. The Detroit rapper reclaimed his spot atop the Billboard 200 albums chart this week with his seventh studio effort “Recovery“. The disc, initially released in June, also achieves its eighth consecutive week of selling at least 100,000 units, bringing its grand total to a whopping 2.1 million copies. As a result of the surge in sales, Slim Shady’s latest albumearns double platinum status. – Odd seeing as before the release of the LP people where doubtful of the LP and many critics had dismissed the project all together!
To date, “Recovery” is the second best-selling album of 2010 behind Lady Antebellum’s Need You Now (2.5 million). Besides his album accolades, Em’s Rihanna-assisted single “Love the Way You Lie” also moves into the No. 1 position on the Digital Songs chart. At this point last year, no albums had sold more than two million units, according to Billboard. Six have reached the million mark this year, including Usher’s “Raymond v. Raymond“, which went platinum this week after selling an additional 15,000 copies. – In other news Eminem is currently planning a world tour and yes! another album is currently in development!
Chris Brown and Usher cancel joint tour

Chris Brown and Usher fans were in glee earlier this week when Bryan-Michael Cox announced that the duo were going on tour. However, even after Brown proposed to the idea on his Twitter, the plans for the show have been officially scrapped. There is no official word from either artist’s camp as to why the venture was canceled. Brown has since removed any messages referring to the tour from his Twitter page.
But according to Usher’s camp, this is all just talk – for now, at least. “There are no plans at this time for Usher and Chris Brown to tour together,” reps for the 31-year-old singer said. Brown’s reps said ditto with the statement: “There is no confirmed Chris Brown and Usher tour at this time.”
Perhaps they’re just waiting to see how badly fans want it. Brown tweeted Wednesday, “Would you pay to see an Usher and Chris Brown concert/tour,” followed by, “RT #CBUSHERTOUR if u want it to happen.” Lo and behold, at the time of this posting, #cbushertour was a trending topic.
And now this is now why I’m sticking to my new quote of the year…”I’ll believe it when I see it”, although a Chris Brown and Usher tour would of been a done deal for world wide success it seems to me that those on Usher’s side are getting a bit too greedy! I guess we’ll just be stuck with Rihanna and her squealing as the only alternative unless we go to Trey Songz’s sex show, ‘Passion, Pain, & Pleasure’. At least we still have Lady GaGa. After finally ditching Preeya Kalidas to “Shimmy” by herself the doors have been left wide open for Mumzy Stranger. East London singer and rapper is finally ready to release some new work since the early projects of his career from almost a year ago. Despite just coming off a record which almost fell into the minus off the charts (Preeya Kalidas “Shimmy“), there is already hype circulating industry floors building up the heat of his next single release titled “Fly With Me“.
Impossible to box in a specific genre, “Fly With Me“ draws influences from dance music combined with smooth R&B vocals and a distinct dancehall flavour – Co-written and co-produced with renowned producer and long time mentor, Rishi Rich, Mumzy Stranger has been making a name for himself on the urban and Asian underground scene over the last few years. Mumzy started out on East London’s grime scene battling with other MCs before discovering the Asian club scene when he started University. Combing the two genres with his love of dancehall music, Mumzy Stranger started becoming one of the key figures on the Asian music scene.
Already playing to crowds of 60,000 people (something which some “main-stream” artists fail to do – no names, but just though I’d drop Rihanna in this one!) Mumzy Stranger will be finishing his debut album which will be released in 2011. As you can expect from an artist who mixes sounds and styles, he is determined not to be pigeonholed. He told us “I’m not an Asian doing R&B music. I’m a soulful, R&B, bashment artist who happens to be Asian. Chris Brown refuses to talk about “Love The Way You Lie”

Chris Brown has refused to talk about Eminem and ex-girlfriend Rihanna’s violent video for “Love The Way You Lie“.
The promo, which stars Megan Fox and Lost actor Dominic Monaghan is themed around domestic violence, showing the pair trapped in an abusive relationship – a topic that after Chris assaulted RiRi last year would know all about.
Brown infamously attacked Rihanna – who sings the chorus on the track – before the 2009 Grammy Awards and was found guilty of assault following the incident. Journalists quizzed Brown about the video when he was promoting his new movie “Takers“ (with T.I.), but the shamed singer refused to answer any questions related to the promo. He turned to the help of his representative who ordered that the journalist ask Chris another question, unrelated to Rihanna or the “Love The Way You Lie“ video.
Rihanna previously stated that she wanted to sing the chorus for Eminem because she connected to the abusive lyrics, with the song itself said to be based on the fiery relationship between Em and his ex-wife Kim Mathers. However tables turned Chris Brown’s new single titled “Deuces” featuring Tyga has been claimed by outside sources to be aimed at Rihanna. Rihanna finally sells out and arena and makes Kanye West cry

Rihanna partied like a rock star following her first headlining concert at NYC’s Madison Square Garden on Thursday (Aug. 12). RiRi’s newest tattoo was on full display as she headed to the after-party at Greenhouse with celebs like Jadakiss and Carmelo Anthony. Her 15th tat inscribed on her neck reads “Rebelle Fleur,” which translates to Rebel Flower. Kanye West was in the house at his labelmate’s “Last Girl on Earth” tour, later saying that he got emotional after watching her take the stage. Rihanna toured with West on his “Glow in the Dark” trek.
“So I went to Rihanna’s concert tonight and when I saw her do ‘I’m so hard, eh eh eh,’ I’m not gonna lie to ya’ll, I might of actually started crying—just to see my little sisteronstage with her production and her outfit and her song and rocking Madison Square Garden at her own show sold out,” he told the crowd at his secret show. “It was a very emotional moment for me and I’m just so proud of her.” – aw how sweet!
I mean there is no doubt that Rihanna gets loads of love from her record label home-town, but even more so maybe finally Rihanna has just managed to detach herself from her haters maybe? – I mean when was the last time we herd someone praising Rihanna on her LIVE performance? Rihanna’s new album is expected late this year and is being claimed to be her best project yet!
But what seems to be on everyone’s mind is all about RiRi’s new tattoo! (I personally don’t see the hype!). According to some sources the tatto’s wording seems to be wrong! the experts believe that if ‘rebelle fleur’ is used in a sentence, then the words should be the other way around as ‘fleur rebelle.’ However, if Rihanna’s tattoo artist has made a mistake, it will be easy to rectify because reports have suggested that the ink is only temporary, until the “Umbrella“ singer decides whether to get it done for real. Rihanna is out…again

Rihanna turned heads in a lime green dress and flaming red hair while leaving one of her favorite New York restaurants, Da Silvano, with boyfriend Matt Kemp.
Thanks to her “Love the Way You Lie” collaboration with Eminem, RiRi has tied Beyoncé, and Lady Gaga for the most No. 1 songs on the Pop Songs radio airplay chart, according to Billboard. While Rihanna may already be taken, Eminem’s grandmother Betty Kresin thinks her grandson and his collaborator would make a cute couple. “Rihanna would make a suitable partner for Marshall,” she reportedly told us. “But he needs to enjoy life and not get carried away with any relationships at the moment.”
After failing to impress her fans on recent “failed” tour Rihanna is now working on her next project, which according to Island Def Jam insiders is set to be her most successful project yet…yeah – We’ve herd this all before. However with little hope of Rihanna’s public image improving whilst the public begins to favour Chris Brown – RiRi will need anything to her back into the lime light which she doesn’t need!
Also, just a thought - notice how boyfriend Matt Kemp is always behind Rihanna, or just always looks upset or stressed when photographed around her…do I smell problems? Yes! Eminem ft. Rihanna “Love The Way You Lie”

You know, I’m not usually a huge fan of Eminem (for personal reasons) nor am I a fan of Rihanna (for obvious reasons) – but without a bout this track really showcased the substance of both of these artists. Although an unsafe partnering of these two, I must of been hard to imagine how people where going to react to “Love The Way You Lie“. Never the less the track is now working it’s way onto every chart across the globe and stacking up the youtube visits. “Love The Way You Lie” is a rap ballad, written originally for Ashanti to take the lead female vocals.
Rihanna was approached because Eminem convinced the producer of the track that (for some odd reason) that RiRi’s voice would fit. An insider close to the UK producer “Alex da Kid” told us he said “They reached out to us directly and they just said, ‘We have this song and we just think Rihanna would be perfect to sing it.’ And, of course, I was like, ‘OK, if I love it, I’ll definitely do it, because I love Eminem.’ And I love the song. It’s really beautiful, and it really stands out. It’s a really unique record. I’m really excited about it.” . I have to admit that “Love The Way You Lie” must of been hard on Rihanna, when you listen to those lyrics it in a way reflects her past year…maybe something to think about? Rihanna set to judge International Songwriters Competition

Urgh! Rihanna, yet again has managed to pull her self into some sort of lime light. The stage walker and “Rude Boy” singer has been selected to be a judge at the upcoming International Songwriters Competition. The Competition results in 66 winners including a grand prize winner who will share more than $150k in cash and prizes, with the with the top scorer earning $25′k in cash and $20k in prizes. Rihanna joins a list of other artists and industry heads including Timbaland, Kings of Leon and Peter Gabriel.
Now, let me put this in the nicest way possible (please give me a moment) – Rihanna is not a talented singer in any sense of the word and she is definitely not a songwriter, so it is quite baffling that she could be expected to judge such a competition. In fact, most of the material included on her own projects is actually handed to her, along with the direction of her music and image. It’s all carefully calculated by her label.
I mean maybe they put her on there to just fill up a seat? With such a talented panel and a presence of a R&B star (Timbaland) already there, I mean what would possess you to place Rihanna on any (let alone a song-writing competition) sort of panel? Really, what was the need? I can only imagine of how worse this can get! I mean what is next for Rihanna? Rihanna is back in contact with Chris Brown!

Yes, you guessed it – she came running back! Rihanna has reportedly been in contact with her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. – maybe she needs to promote her new “new” album?
The “Te Amo” singer, who was assaulted by Brown before last years Grammy Awards is said to have spoken to Chris over the telephone.
A source told us: “It’s been almost a year since they last spoke, but Rihanna felt like she could try to be friends with Chris again…Seeing how emotional he was on set [at the BET Awards] really touched her. She’d never seen him like that before.”. Yeah that’s right, because last you saw him he was just about to knock you the F*** out! -
They added: “Chris told her that he felt like he’s grown up in the past year. He’s said he’s so happy to be back in touch with her…they were each other’s first love and he’s missed her so much. Rihanna knows that if he wanted him back, he’d be there in a second.”
Despite being allegedly in contact with the “I Can Transform Ya“ singer again, the pair have not been in touch since Brown was sentenced to 180 days of community labour and given five years probation for attacking Rihanna.
The couple are said to have exchanged a few text messages since their telephone conversation with a pal of RiRi’s claiming she is keen to meet Brown face-to-face. Rihanna’s next album set to…flop!

Dispute Island Def Jam being convinced that “Rude Boy” singer Rihanna’s new album is set to sell more that Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” (yeah right!), inside sources have told us that the new material being developed and proposed for Rihanna’s new album is (wait for it) “poor!”. Well things do begin to add up, especially when you are failing to see out 3000 seating venues for your tour! But really, where is Rihanna going with her career. With the album “Rated R” having poor sales from the very moment the project was released, it looks like people have really and truly then have just either got bored or fed up with Rihanna! Or on the other hand, they may might of forgiven Chris Brown.
I mean, where else could of this all of come from? I suppose the reverse effects of the “hate Chris Brown” wave have started, I personally think Rihanna will get an even harder hit! With only months left to the untitled project by Rihanna to be release her and her management need to work on some sort of way where people don’t hate her as much. Other inside sources told us that the new LP was a “money fuelled” project and had pretty much no potential. I understand that album recording is a creative progress, but really Rihanna. So Soon?
