Nicki Minaj tones down the sexiness

Nicki Minaj may ooze sex appeal, but the hip-hop honey is making a conscious effort to take it down a notch.

“I made a conscious decision to try to tone down the sexiness,” she went on to say “I want people; especially young girls—to know that in life, nothing is going to be based on sex appeal. You’ve got to have something else to go with that.”

While she strives to be a role model, she also embraces her individuality. “I don’t mind being called a weirdo,” shares the “Your Love” rapper. “There are a lot of people in hip-hop who are probably never going to get what I do. But, by just being myself, I end up touching a lot more people who might never have paid much attention to a female rapper.”

We all know Nicki Minaj has worked with Usher, Ludacris, Robin Thicke, and Lil Wayne, but she’s still in awe of her collaboration with a pop diva. “Not only did we do a song together, but I was in a video with Mariah Carey! I still haven’t gotten over that!” – All in all I’m not too sure how Nicki Minaj‘s will respond to this! Surely isn’t Nicki Minaj a fun stage name that she puts on and works her stuff and then she just leaves her on the stage!?

If anything i’m sure this is going to tail back to the Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim beef! Now everyone is trying to be a good sister all of a sudden! Please! Do us all a favour and just stick to your music!  Read the rest of this entry »

The Dream says “this is Ciara’s last chance”

Despite executive producing Ciara’s forthcoming ‘Basic Instinct’ project, The Dream had some harsh words about the ‘Ride’ singer in a recent interview. The question pointed at super-star R&B/Pop producer The Dream was ” You’ve just finished writing Ciara’s entire new album too. Is this really her last shot at pop stardom?”

Before we all take a look at the answer, let just look at The Dream‘s career. He is currently working on his final album because he feels  that no one appreciates music. All together he’s written 5 #1 hit singles yet till this date The Dream has failed to garner any #1 hit himself. He replied to the question saying “I think so. You only get so many times to, and I won’t say fail, but not achieve. There’s an expectation of where Ciara should be in her career. To others, she’s achieved but not to us, because we saw where her career was headed. But now she’s back on the horse. When she first came out I, like Lil Jon and Jazze Pha, understood exactly who she was. It was that whole Atlanta vibe because if i’m not Atlanta, no one is. I knew if I had a chance to get with her creatively, there’s a specific type of swagger that she’s got. Tricky and I did her whole album, but it’s not all shallow songs like “Ride.” There’s play time but there’s substance too, it’s a great listen.”

It’s always nice to hear positive words from your album producer even before you’ve stared recording it…right!? Go home The Dream, just go home! Read the rest of this entry »

Ludacris “My Chick Bad” ft. Nicki Minaj

Despite low sales of Ludacris‘ “Battle of the Sexes“, he continues to push out his second single from the album titled “My Chick Bad” featuring the one and only Nicki Minaj. “My Chick Bad” is a good follow on from the R&B/Hip-Hop #1 single “How Low” and with a remix video already waiting to be released this single should do well…right!? Sources told us the plot for the main video is Ludacris is directing a movie but however the filming is on break. During that time Ludacris begins to brag about his “girl” towards the other cast members. Later in the video we see Nicki Minaj is the actress of the film and is found lying in a couch, held by restraints. The video ends with Ludacris and Nicki singing and generally having a good time.

So in a nut shell; it’s a typical Ludacris video; Luda is going to have to work hard to get any more attention to his LP with Drake soaking up all the limelight with LP “Thank Me Later“, no one seems to be getting excited for “Battle of the Sexes“. Interestingly seeing as Drake worked with most huge rappers under the Universal umbrella (eh eh eh) he didn’t seem to put Ludacris on his wish list!? Although personally a track with Ludacris and Drake would of been “Dope” and would of been rather successful; you wonder why, when given the opportunity they didn’t do it…very interesting! Roll over to watch the remix video! Read the rest of this entry »

Nicki Minaj talks about her music & sex tape!

Bad BitchNicki Minaj, who recently has changed management to the more experienced P.Diddy has finally opened up about recent exposure to her new music and now more importantly her sex tape!

In a recent interview P.Diddy told us ”Nicki Minaj, she’s definitely one of the great ones. She has a long way to go, but you know how we recognized LeBron [James] was a great one, Tiger [Woods] was a great one, and Kobe [Bryant] was a great one? Nicki is up there. Her story has just begun.” Indeed it has, with Nicki Mina‘s debut album to hit stores this October. Nicki Mina has also recently featured on more commercial hits such as “My Chick Bad” with Ludacris, “Lil Freak” with Usher and “Up Out My Face” with Mariah Carey; alongside her own début single “Massive Attack“.

Nicki Minaj sex tape which surfaced only days ago is already set to fetch $1,000,000! Nicki Minaj told us ”I don’t know where I fit in the spectrum of rap yet … people thought I was more of a sex symbol or wannabe sex symbol…I’m trying to entertain, and entertaining is more than exuding sex appeal. I don’t think that’s fun. I don’t find it fun watching someone trying to be sexy. It’s wack.”

So far the sex tape has not been purchased yet however other sources have been making their own of Nicki Minaj!? (what!?). In other news Nicki Minaj is set to tour with label friends under Young Money/Cash Money group on an arena tour. Read the rest of this entry »

The Dream readies new album for release!

The Dream is in the final stages of releasing his new album “Love King“; although Def Jam seemed to be convinced that this is the killer album, I’m not! In all fairness The Dream is probably one of the most least progressed R&B acts out on the music scene (his stuff just sounds the same!). Without a doubt the single “Love King” could of easily be placed on his two previous albums “The American Dream” and “Love vs. Money“. It’s sad to see that one of musics greatest song writers have nearly (and mean nearly – this can be saved) has nearly become…boring!

It’s true! No one gets excited about The Dream any more, and him pushing out another album could be slightly risky; for example “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” and album produced by The Dream for Mariah Carey was an epic fail, “Glitter” did better than this project – and that’s saying something! In regards to the new single I suppose throwing on Ludacris on this might may save it! “Love King Remix” is miles better than the original single which failed to chart the billboard hot 100 (ouch!). All in all, it’s just a typical recession friendly video by The Dream.  From it’s poor album cover to it’s “same-ish” produced auto tune and vocal layering tracks it’s what you would expect from an album that has not only been rushed but the budget been sucked out of it!

I hope this project works out well for The Dream; he’s a talented song-writer and at times a pretty good producer, I just don’t see why his own projects just seems to be disappointing. And also there no need to release an album after straight after “Love vs. Money” which failed to even certify Gold!

Ciara set for R&B comeback!

Ciara gets physical in her sexiest video yet for “Ride,” the first single from her fourth album Basic Instinct, coming this summer. Director Diane Martel (“Love Sex Magic”) takes a minimalistic approach, choosing to highlight the R&B siren’s performance and her bountiful assets. CiCi works her body like a gymnast, straddles a mechanical bull, and teases her fellow ATLien Ludacris with her goodies. This is one “Ride” you won’t want to end. – is what sources told us.

Ciara‘s new album will not be available in the UK till summer, we found out that in September 2009 Tricky Stewart revealed what had widely been expected, that the singer had been working on her anticipated fourth studio album. At the time the project was set to be produced solely by trio of Tricky Stewart, The-Dream and Ciara herself. Stewart described the studio sessions as “feeling good” with the music “having a good vibe”. This ended up as being Ciara‘s forth studio album, and Jive Records confirmed that “Ride” will be the lead single for the new album.

This Ciara is something she’s been wanting to do for a long time, with Ciara being very few in her kind (able to do diverse R&B singles and albums) she’s know for her high success around each album and then vanishing to work on a new one. Also Ciara enjoyed being placed in the Adidas summer commercial, so expect big things

“Each Tear” Mary J Blidge feat. Jay Sean

“Each Tear” will act as Mary J Blidge‘s second single off the queen of hip hop and R&B ninth album “Stronger” – the album hit #1 on the R&B Album chart, although the lack of commercial promotion for this album, it’s shown Mary J Blidge in a new light and this album has demonstrated her artist progression. Further more the song was re-recorded with several different artists to reflect the international markets. It is featured on editions of the album with one of five people: with Jay Sean for the UK - believe it or not, but adding Jay to the single for the UK is part of the huge Island Records marketing push in the UK and thus leading to his new LP release (but enough about him!).

I love this record, this is definitely running parallel to Mary J Blidge‘s and Ludacris‘ “Run Away Love” – vocals on the track are on point – the video is a little standard, however it really work but this song wont stick around for too long,  with huge summer anthems being recorded as we speak this mello-ballad will not last. Saying that “Each Tear” is expected a high début thus keeping up with Mary J Blidge‘s high standards. In the US “We Got Hood Love” featuring Trey Songz is next on the release list – the video will drop any moment!

Welcome back Usher!

Usher has officially achieved his 3rd #1 album (out of six!), with “Raymond Vs Raymond“ - he pushed off Justin Bieber‘s “My Worlds” (finally!). Usher already shifting 329,000 copies of the 14 track LP featuring the likes of Nicki Minaj, Ludacris, Will.i.am and P.Diddy will only take a couple of days more for the album to certify Gold!

“OMG” acting as the first UK single for Usher‘s new LP, which début at #7 on the top ten charts – with official release in the UK not until the April 26 this will stimulate buzz over here in the UK for the new album. In addition to that Usher‘s label confirmed that he will be visiting the UK for a short promotion tour and a series of guest appearances.

(Being the “celebrity” I am), I was lucky enough to get the LP – over all this is one of 32 year old’s greatest work – compared to the “okayish” and rushed album “Here I Stand” this new LP’s legacy will last longer, in may ways it imitates a modern version of the “Confessions“ albums (yay!). With that said, Usher has never seemed to change his high standard of performance – with continuing with the live dancing on every set piece he decides to do, it’s also come to my attention that his voice has aged slightly which in some ways adds to Usher‘s new look and new style he’s developed for the new album. Usher‘s new single is “Hey Daddy” is in heavy circulation in the US and soon in the UK, be sure to pre-order your copy of Usher‘s Read the rest of this entry »

Make some noise for Luda!

Despite early production problems Ludacris’ new album “Battle of the Sexes” will be ready for realise 9th March 2010. This will be the seventh album from the Atlanta rapper. Originally due in 2009, Battle of the Sexes was tagged as a collaboration album by Ludacris and label-mate Shawnna. A promotional single titled “Everybody Drunk as Fuck” which features vocals from Shawnna was released in April 2009. Shawnna reportedly split from Disturbing tha Peace in 2009 and signed to Nappy Boy Entertainment. It was later reported that Shawnna was removed from the album and became a solo album by Ludacris with guest appearances.

After the good reception of the album’s first single “How Low“, and the new single featuring Nicki Minaj “My Chick Bad” is currently in heavy circulation across all major R&B and Hip-Hop radio stations.  In addition to this Ludacris will also be touring with The Blacked Eyed Peas as an opening act (wow when did you drop to an opening act!?).

Forgive me if i’m wrong, but I am slightly worried for Ludacris – first of all seeing him feature in a Justin Beiber track and then be seen in his video sends his original fans a bit crazy, has he turned into a commercial wrapper just like Kanye West!? Although Def Jam and Disturbing the Peace are putting in a lot of effort not to mess with the brand of Ludacris, desperate times call for desperate measures! For the album set list Read the rest of this entry »

Okay…it’s Justin Bieber!

So while everyone is jumping on this kid like crazy (and i mean CRAZY!), lets take a few minutes to remind ourselves who this Justin kid is!

He was discovered on YouTube by Scooter Braun, who later became his manager. Braun flew Bieber to Atlanta, to consult with Usher and soon signed a record deal with Island Records, where he began his professional career. His first album “My World” didn’t preform well on the Billboard charts in the first three opening weeks, however later on the album was certified platinum (oh goodie!).

I’m not going to say i’m hating on this kid! but being 15 and singing some of these songs i’m slightly disturbed! Although Bieber’s main target audience are young teenagers, that doesn’t stop Island Records from putting Usher, Drake and Ludacris (oh my!). But for his fan’s MoMo has confirmed there will be a world tour, and more details will be released by the Island Def Jam Music Group
