Gucci Mane and Swizz beats on the set of new video

It’s Gucci time! Gooch linked up with Swizz Beatz to shoot the explosive new video for “Gucci Time,” with director extraordinaire Chris Robinson behind the camera. The video, shot on location in Los Angeles, will be released in the near future in anticipation of his forthcoming album “The Appeal“: Georgia’s Most Wanted, slated to hit stores in late 2010.
Now, the rapper has finally wrapped his follow-up album and said that this is his best chance to capitalize on his underground allure. “The Appeal is officially finished. It’s mixed and mastered, and the artwork is done,” he told The MoMo Show from the set of one of his upcoming videos (he’s currently filming two at the same time). “I’m just out here promoting it and letting everyone know it’s coming. Just bring awareness to it ’cause I want everyone to know it’s coming and to support it because it’s a masterpiece.”
“Biggest mixtape of the summer, by far,” Gucci said about his tape, an ode to the neighborhood in Atlanta where he grew up. “When y’all get it, guarantee I win Mixtape of the Year.” – now don’t get too ahead of yourself Gucci!

Eminem’s “Recovery” certified double platinum

Eminem has a lot to be thankful for this summer. The Detroit rapper reclaimed his spot atop the Billboard 200 albums chart this week with his seventh studio effort “Recovery“. The disc, initially released in June, also achieves its eighth consecutive week of selling at least 100,000 units, bringing its grand total to a whopping 2.1 million copies. As a result of the surge in sales, Slim Shady’s latest albumearns double platinum status. – Odd seeing as before the release of the LP people where doubtful of the LP and many critics had dismissed the project all together!
To date, “Recovery” is the second best-selling album of 2010 behind Lady Antebellum’s Need You Now (2.5 million). Besides his album accolades, Em’s Rihanna-assisted single “Love the Way You Lie” also moves into the No. 1 position on the Digital Songs chart. At this point last year, no albums had sold more than two million units, according to Billboard. Six have reached the million mark this year, including Usher‘s “Raymond v. Raymond“, which went platinum this week after selling an additional 15,000 copies. – In other news Eminem is currently planning a world tour and yes! another album is currently in development!
T.I. pushes back “King Uncaged” to push forward “Takers”

Rap star T.I. has announced that his upcoming album, “King Uncaged” will now come out next month. According to the rapper he has just really focused on promoting his new movie, “Takers“. He told us: “I pushed the album back so I can completely focus my attention to the rollout and release of this film “Takers“. I feel it wouldn’t be fair to the film or the album if I was splitting my attention span amongst the two, so I hit pause on the album to completely focus my attention to rolling out this here film.
“Once we prayerfully debut No. 1-25-plus, 20-plus million, then after those bottles have been popped and that celebration is underway, I will completely re-submerge myself back into the music, fully on album mode.” In other T.I. news, the rapper made an epic comeback in a concert that was held in New York earlier this week and he was joined onstage by the likes of Mary J. Blige, Swizz Beatz and B.o.B. R&B singer Keri Hilson and rappers Cam’ron and Maino also made appearances.
After the show Tip took to his Twitter page and posted: “Special thank you to Axe for providing a magical night for my 1st concert back!! SO (shout out) to my partners for holding me down tonight- Mjb, Keri, Cam, MAino, Ricco, Swizz, B.” – In all fairness, not 100% shocked that the album was pushed back…really come on now this is T.I. we are dealing with here. Jay Z’s next album could be his last

Information surfaced today that Jay Z is working on his last and final album…ever! The 40 year old rapper has been key place in the industy, however Roca-Fella insiders have said that Jay Z will release a greatest hits album alongside a special edition two CD and extended play studio album.
Shocked? Yes! It was only a few weeks ago, Jay Z was battling rumours of his retirement from rap! As far as Jay Z goes, his appeal is still there and he still manages to sell records well. So why leave now? I suppose acts like Jay Z would wan’t to go out with a big bang!
Either way, this has only fuelled other rumours that Beyonce could be a mother very soon! – But that is another story! According to our exclusive sources, Jay Z will focus more on the production side of music and fully commit to managing some of the acts that he’s got under the label. Smart move never the less, I feel Ive herd this record somewhere before?
Even if Jay Z really follows through this proposal, I’m sure will be hearing him “featuring” on a Hip-Hop single in the very near future. It’s also good to know that he’s already started work on the new LP, maybe he might go back to his routes of continue to follow the trend of Techno-Pop-Sung Rap? Only time will tell. T.I’s “King Uncaged” gets pushed back…again

That’s right! T.I. fans are going to have to wait a lot longer than than expected to get their hands on his new album. The rapper’s highly anticipated “King Uncaged“ LP has been pushed back from it’s original release date of August 17th to September 28th. This news comes as a surprise to many as the album’s 1st promo single, ”I’m Back“, has already climbed to #44 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #12 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with little promotion.
We should all be used to Warner Brothers by now! We all know they never stick to their release dates; to be honest I wouldn’t be surprised if the album gets pushed back to December! I sense that this decision is probably related to conflicts with T.I.’s current promotional schedule for his new movie, “Takers”. Undoubtedly his label wants to ensure that his album gets sufficient attention. Furthermore, as T.I. chose to use the 2010 BET Awards to promote ‘Yeah Ya Know (Takers)’ from the ‘Takers’ soundtrack instead of his own project, he missed out on a major opportunity for exposure. Indeed, this decision may prove to be wise in the long run.
Although this has probably allowed all the tracks from the project to be leaked on the net, thus killing all suspense for the album. I still find it really hard to understand why T.I. didn’t just make the “King Uncaged” album the sound track to the movie “Takers”? – But hey, we will be seeing “King Uncaged” finally uncaged on the 28th September 2010! – we hope that is! Chris Brown unveils new girlfriend!

Chris Brown’s rumored girlfriend Jasmine Sanders celebrated her 20th birthday Tuesday night (Jun 22) and the couple hung out with Breezy’s BFF Teyana Taylor, who tweeted these photos of them in the car on the ride over to Playhouse nightclub in Los Angeles.
Teyana also mentioned on Twitter that she and Chris baked a cake for Jasmine before heading out to the club. (Is this where we say “aww?” LOL!). Good for you Chris Brown! Good for you! I know I keep saying this and don’t get me wrong, what he did was wrong, and that is now in the past; I think we all need to get over it! – It’s time the he and us both moved on! With RiRi every five minutes flaunting her stuff with hubby Matt Kemp.
I’m not surprised that Chris Brown wanted this to be all a secret! After being rejected by Visa offices for leaving for his tour i’m sure now that he’s learnt that any public activity needs to remain private. With ever Rihanna ass licker media hype will just attack him like vultures! In addition, Chris Brown has been scheduled back into the studio to work on another album which sources told us “he’s having a break now, but we need to work on some new material which is more current.”.
So finally Chris Brown takes my advice and lays low and start work on a new project with a fresh mind! To be fair there is nothing else he can do given all the circumstances. Chris Brown is set to honour Michael Jackson at this year’s BET awards.

Keri Hilson says “No, It’s money in the bank”

Keri Hilson has talked about writing big hits for artists such as Britney Spears and Omarion and not keeping them for herself, but she doesn’t care as it made her a lot of money. She told us: “No, its money in the bank. That’s my means of living. There’s two sides of me, and neither takes preference. One is just a dream that I fought long and hard for. Songwriting was my Plan B. My whole life, I’ve fought to just do this. I didn’t know that I’d be able to take off as far, or as fast, as I did, but I knew I had a talent and that I should pursue it, because there’s money in it. When I wasn’t able to perform, and lost the record deal, I took the path of Plan B, and now I love them equally.
“I can’t have one without the other. Even at my biggest, I want to be writing for other artists. Even at my peak, the highest I can be as an artist, I always want to be keeping my creative juices flowing, keeping money in the bank, putting my intellectual property out there.” Even so, Keri Hilson hasn’t yet got a hit without the help of a duo or feature of the track! For example Ne-Yo/Kanye West and not forgetting Timbaland! I think what she was trying to say is, She don’t care if the next album flops, she making enough money through song writing, she don’t care! She got money in the bank! A little disappointed with Keri Hilson, I really thought tracks like “Energy” and “I like” could of done well, maybe it’s Keri Hilson‘s management not placing her right within her market? Don’t ask Big Boi about OutKast or else…

Big Boi is busy promoting his solo record these days, so don’t expect him to tell you about OutKast‘s highly-confidential new album or you may suffer the consequences.
The more visible OutKast member says he’s frequently asked about the long-awaited project from him and André 3000, but things could get ugly if he spills the beans. “When I do interviews and they ask where the OutKast album is, I have to tell them it’s top-secret information, and that me and André 3000 will have to put something to your temple if I say something about it,” he tells us.
The duo made a promise not to speak about their next collaborative effort until the release is near. “We made a pact that we will not disclose any information until it’s about to come out,” he reveals. One thing that he will freely speak about is his solo debutSir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, due July 6. It’s a shame although André 3000 has done far more successful features with other acts it’s strange seeing Big Boi been given the media hype and all this promotion. Surely he’s now being branded as a début act but wouldn’t this lead to some slight competition between the two members of OutKast!?
At this moment Big Boi‘s single is going under heavy circulation and with Island Def Jam keeping album details to an minimum it’s hard to see how they will handle the whole project. Without a doubt ”Shutterbug“ is a dope track and is charting very high! Read the rest of this entry »
Lady Gaga’s new album is complete!

Lady GaGa’s next studio album is complete. The entertainer revealed the news in the latest issue of Rolling Stones magazine and noted that the title of the LP, which hits stores early next year, will be revealed on New Year’s Eve. Check out what GaGa had to say.
Sources told us that there are very few details out there about what Gaga’s next album will sound like, but she say it’s already finished. She’s planning to announce the title of the album — due early next year — at midnight on New Year’s Eve. “I think I’m gonna get the album title tattooed on me and put out the photo,” she said. “I’ve been working on it for months now, and I feel very strongly that it’s finished right now. It came so quickly. Some artists take years; I don’t. I write music every day.”
It looks like Lady GaGa is going to continue her trend of making everything a dramatic affair. It’s certainly an ingenious move to capitalise on every opportunity to build hype for the next LP. Knowing Lady GaGa, she’ll probably announce the album title amidst a fireworks display, launched by cannon fire and 50 virgins singing in a chorus line at the strike of midnight; you know, because that’s how she do!

Rihanna cancels new album

Confirmation came through today that Rihanna has cancelled her untitled new album. Reasons around why the cancellation is still minimum with Rihanna still trying to push “Te Amo” and “RockStar 101” in the charts her attentions being drawn to her tour (which so far has been more successful in Europe rather than the states).
According to an Island Def Jam press release Rihanna was meant to be working on an “informal” project whilst on tour and had been booked to hit the studios when she’d arrive home in New York; however all of those studio sessions have been cancelled when sources told us that Rihanna will be cancelling the new album. This is a real shame; Rihanna could of used this LP to boost her status in the market; with “Rated R” selling sort of 1.6 million another hit album could of done much more for her career. Yet again this highlights disputes with the UMG label – with increasing pressures of Island Def Jam’s CEO L.A Reid who was held responsible for the “failing” projects of acts on the label. Disappointing as it may seem maybe Rihanna has come to the end of her creative cycle; she said that “Rated R” was reflection of her life currently (referring to the Chris Brown indecent) so maybe we could expect another “Music of the Sun” album?
Well it’ no secreat that Rihanna has some issues going on at home; which is shown through her music (sad times) and maybe a break is well deserved; after all it’s been roller-coaster of two years for her – who knows maybe Rihanna might just leave Island Def Jam.
