Rihanna stacks 10 million sales in the UK alone…

She is indeed the only girl in the world! Rihanna has sold more that 10 million records in the UK. The S&M singer, who recently won the Best International Female Artist at The Brit Awards, achieved the milestone after surpassing 10 million sales of her albums since her first release, Music of The Sun, back in 2005. RiRi’s current LP Loud is said to have sold over a million copies already in the UK, despite only being released last November – giving the 23-year old her fastest-selling album to date. Rihanna to shoot “Skin” video in the coming weeks

Rihanna will be shooting the video to her smoldering new ballad “Skin,”. With the lyrics reading “So why you standing over there with your clothes on? Baby, strip down for me, go and take them off.” The song’s real hook is the fuzzy electric guitar that begins sawing through the melody about three minutes in, and continues building until it reaches a, er, climactic solo at the very end. I do adore the record and I suppose Rihanna will sex it up more in the video. The last minute kind of reminds us of Sade’s achingly beautiful “No Ordinary Love,”which was just as sensuous but perhaps a little (okay—a lot) less graphic, lyrically. – The video will be shot in LA later on this month. Rihanna sued by David LaChapelle…

Rihanna is being taken to court by famed photographer David LaChapelle, who claims the pop superstar ripped off his iconic snapshots in her video for “S&M.” LaChapelle, known for his doll-like portraits of everyone from Lil’ Kim to Eminem and Mariah has filed a lawsuit against the Bajan songstress for replicating approximately eight of his images in the Melina-directed clip. Rihanna wants a duet with Susan Boyle

Susan Boyle may have outsold Rihanna for the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts, but there’s no bad blood between the female stars. In fact, the Scottish singer recently spoke on wanting to collaborate with the Bajan songstress, with RiRi reciprocating the offer.
“There are certain types of music that you’re good at and certain types that you’re not. I mean, would I be good at R&B? I suppose you never know. Maybe me and Rihanna could get together,” said the “I Dreamed a Dream” singer.
The red-haired siren took to her Twitter page to share her excitement about a possible duet with Boyle. “Hold up! I might be a lil late, but just heard that THEE SuBo wants to collab wit ME??!? I’m game, doesn’t get much cooler than this. #BOOM,” she wrote.
Boyle’s holiday album The Gift entered at the top of the charts two weeks ago with 318,000 copies sold. Her second week sales totaled 335,000, which was enough to put Rihanna at No. 3 with her latest Loud.
Rihanna is not the only unlikely artist open to working with the former “Britain’s Got Talent” contestant. 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg previously expressed their interest in a SuBo collabo. (yawn!) – But in all honesty a project like this will never see the light of day! Read the rest of this entry »
Rihanna wips out new hair!…again!

Rihanna wips out her hot hot hot new red hair! Long hair, don’t care. On the eve of her fifth album release, Rihanna showed off her long red locks while stepping out in midtown Manhattan. Carrying a Louis Vuitton cranberry tote and wearing a “F**k You” necklace, RiRi stormed the streets. She will perform today at 5 p.m. EST on MTV’s “The Seven.”
Plummeting temperatures have forced Rihanna to cover up in the streets of New York City, but that doesn’t mean the singer is ditching her signature edge.
This weekend, the “Rude Boy” singer was photographed accessorizing three different outfits with one very graphic necklace. The piece, modeled to look much like a traditional gold nameplate pendant, reads much like Lindsay Lohan’s middle finger did in court a few months ago. For those not in the know, this means it includes the F-word, used in the command form.
Rihanna even wore necklace while posing happily with a crew of underaged fans. Talk about mixed signals! In other news, the singer is sporting an interesting new hairstyle that looks an awful lot like a famous Disney princess’ ‘do.

Rihanna to shift platinum in first week of sales!

Let me just sit down for a moment! Yes Island Def Jam were kind enough to send me some tracks – if you haven’t pre-ordered”Loud” you need to do it now! I can easily predict that Rihanna’s final album from Island Def Jam will got Platinum within the opening week after a little research we did!
The production on this LP sounds amazing (as is expected from the world class team of producers commissioned by her label) but as usual her voice sounds atrocious. It is amazing that after 5 albums and multiple tours Rihanna has yet to learn how to maxmise her potential as a vocalist.
Furthermore, with the exception of the occasional insertion of West Indian twang, there is nothing on this record to be as unique as she claimed. In fact, I am sure that Lady GaGa could have performed all of these records just about matching the talent. Rihanna basically applied the noise erupting from her throat to a series of well-crafted beats, added a bit of creole language and expected this album to be in a lane by itself. – but that is hot!
It will be interesting to see how this album performs. Rihanna is releasing this project in a time when both Taylor Swift and Susan Boyle have records on the market and, as her fans conveniently forget to point out, Rihanna never got a #1 album. Rihanna’s “Rated R” album snippets

With less than two weeks before Rihanna’s fifth album Loud hits stores, snippets from the offering have surfaced online, giving a sneak peek of what to expect on the Bajan babe’s latest.
Boasting guest appearances from Eminem (“Love the Way You Lie (Part II)”), Nicki Minaj (“Raining Men”), and Drake (“What’s My Name?”), Loud is noticeably sunnier than 2009’s Rated R, with upbeat fare like lead single “Only Girl (In the World)” and the Avril Lavigne-sampled “Cheers (Drink to That).”
Being the last album for Rihanna under the Island Def Jam umbrella, the label are trying to push out every single off the album as a single – also note that “Who’s That Chick” will not be appearing on the album due to special licensing to the Doritos campaign.
