Mary J. Blige and Drake join Jay Z at Yankee stadium
Sep 17th
Jay-Z went out with a bang on the second night of his historical co-headlining gig with Eminem at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday (Sept. 14), bringing out guests including Mary J. Blige, Drake, and Nicki Minaj to assist him on some of his biggest hits. The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul sang the hook on Jigga’s “Heart of the City (Ain’t No Love),” while Young Money’s favorite fake couple Drake and Nicki gave a rendition of Drizzy’s “Up All Night.” Even if you weren’t there, you can relive the moment by watching the clips here.
Some unions are pre-ordained and, following Jay-Z and Eminem‘s Home and Home finale at New York’s Yankee Stadium this week, fans shared their hopes of hearing an album from the two legends. Even Mrs. MJB, who performed at the concert during Jay’s set, weighed in.”I think that’s great,” said Mary. “I think Jay-Z and Eminem doing an album together is very very historic, exactly like the concert was.”
The concert was historic because it marked the first time Yankee Stadium allowed hip-hop to take over their grounds, but a Hov and Shady LP would be special because it would be the first collaboration the Detroit champ’s ever done, barring his D-12 albums. On the other hand, Jay-Z has released collaborations with Best of Both Worlds with R.Kelly in 2002 and Collision Course with Linkin Park in 2004.
At press time, there were no reports of either MC seriously considering a project together but fans can dream, right? ”Jay-Z and Eminem together? What a phenomenal duo,” said Kaylyn Schenieder.”If Jay and Em did a record together it’d be off the hook,” said Dontae S. “It would be amazing.” Another gentleman essentially said the collaboration would be the generous act of a higher power. ”If God could only bless this earth with Jay-Z and Eminem doing an album together, all hell would break loose,” said Armaan Torado. “It would be impossible to find that CD, trust me.” ”They’re two of the greatest artists of our generation,” said Eddie Blackmon. “If they got together, it would sell millions and millions of records.” Read the rest of this entry »
Mariah is either putting on a heck of a lot of weight or she is now definitely pregnant!
Aug 22nd
You all know I’m a huge Mariah Carey fan! But who are you trying to fool Mariah? So never the less Mariah Carey, who may or may not have a bun in the oven, received a royal welcome in Brazil. The curvaceous diva headlined the Festa Do Peão de Boiadeiros (Cowboy Festival) in Barretos, São Paulo, Brazil on Saturday (Aug. 21), performing a 15-song set that included “Dreamlover,” “My All,” “Obsessed,” and “I Want to Know What Love Is,” which was No. 1 in the country for a record-breaking 27 weeks. She changed multiple times from a black princess-like dress with matching tiara to a leather jacket and T-shirt that read, “If you like fun, you’ll love me.” – Typical of Mariah Carey.
A grateful Mimi thanked her Brazilian fans for their support following the show, fueling pregnancy rumors with her comment. “Thank you SO much 2 everybody in Brazil @ the show 2nite! So many familiar faces-Brazil you always show me love &I am so GRATEFUL!” she tweeted. “Seriously,I really do love it here, beautiful people inside and out! Tonite was tuff 4 me 4 personal reasons, but U got me thru!L4L.”- Indeed Mariah Carey fans rushed to in their millions to begin the campaign to find out what is going out! “You know I’m original, not your everyday typical”

After finally ditching Preeya Kalidas to “Shimmy” by herself the doors have been left wide open for Mumzy Stranger. East London singer and rapper is finally ready to release some new work since the early projects of his career from almost a year ago. Despite just coming off a record which almost fell into the minus off the charts (Preeya Kalidas “Shimmy“), there is already hype circulating industry floors building up the heat of his next single release titled “Fly With Me“.
Impossible to box in a specific genre, “Fly With Me“ draws influences from dance music combined with smooth R&B vocals and a distinct dancehall flavour – Co-written and co-produced with renowned producer and long time mentor, Rishi Rich, Mumzy Stranger has been making a name for himself on the urban and Asian underground scene over the last few years. Mumzy started out on East London’s grime scene battling with other MCs before discovering the Asian club scene when he started University. Combing the two genres with his love of dancehall music, Mumzy Stranger started becoming one of the key figures on the Asian music scene.
Already playing to crowds of 60,000 people (something which some “main-stream” artists fail to do – no names, but just though I’d drop Rihanna in this one!) Mumzy Stranger will be finishing his debut album which will be released in 2011. As you can expect from an artist who mixes sounds and styles, he is determined not to be pigeonholed. He told us “I’m not an Asian doing R&B music. I’m a soulful, R&B, bashment artist who happens to be Asian. I don’t need to be put under any category.” – There are currently several versions of ”Fly With Me” circulating, however a mastered is yet to be released! Read the rest of this entry »
Jennifer Lopez slammed with £20 million lawsuit!
Jul 13th
Looks like J-Lo has really gone down to an all time low! A luxury hotel in northern Cyprus is suing Jennifer Lopez for $40 million after she cancelled a performance (is that how low Jennifer Lopez has gone to? Hotel performances?). J-Lo had agreed to appear at the Cratos Premium hotel and casino complex on 24 July, her 41st birthday and the anniversary of the island’s 1974 invasion by Turkey.
But the decision sparked outrage among fans who claimed her performance would help legitimise Turkey’s occupation of the region. After an online campaign by angry Greek Cypriot fans, including a Facebook page against the concert, the “Love Don’t Cost A Thing“ singer cancelled her performance – she sure knows how to wheel in the fans! A spokesperson explained the decision: “Jennifer Lopez would never knowingly support any state, country, institution or regime that was associated with any form of human rights abuse. After a full review of the relevant circumstances in Cyprus, it was the decision of management to withdraw from the appearance. This was a team decision that reflects our sensitivity to the political realities of the region.”
According to reports, the hotel owner has offered to halt the lawsuit if Jennifer changes her mind and performs as scheduled. Jennifer Lopez is currently working on her new album under new management with Island Def Jam – she is set to make her “comeback” (which she’s been trying to do for the last three years) later on this year. Rihanna, Ke$ha & Nicki Minaj on “Last Girl On Earth Tour”
Apr 7th
Yes! The “Last Girl On Earth Tour” is going to be huge, this is one of Universal Music Group’s largest dual tours! With Rihanna taking main stage with the aid of Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha (who we haven’t heard from in a while) for an amazing 34 (and more being planned) shows. Only North American dates have been released but more world dates are being in the process of confirmation between the venues and the Universal Music Group.
With Rihanna‘s hot single “Rude Boy” still #1 on the billbaord hot 100, it makes sense for her to go on a global tour – however it’s clear that the introduction of not just one but two side acts suggests that Rihanna may have struggled to fill up arena’s during her tour! Also with her new album set for release this summer, she’s cutting this all a little too close – to push a new tour and a new album in a short time could lead to exhaustion (we all saw what happened to Lady Gaga – who if I may add, is still touring!). To be fair I think Rihanna was expecting a lot more from this project – after the huge success of her previous albums she did ship fewer on this LP (ouch!), but then we can shove some of the blame on good old L.A.Reid! – who is now focusing on Jennifer No-pez…I mean Lopez (eek!).
Either way this tour will be off the hook, I cannot wait until they release the set list – Are you ready for a long chain of shows of excessive auto-tune and leather panties - and not forgetting all backing dancers! Visit GigLocator.com for more info Read the rest of this entry »
Whitney Huston puts on a shameful performance
Feb 23rd
With over 200 people walking out of her concert last night, Whitney Huston managed – yet again! to shock us all with another disaster performance. With Whitney Huston claiming an almost sell out of the tour in all the UK venues, some fans are contemplating whether to go or not…(don’t go! save your money and watch Mariah!).
We all know Whitney’s voice hasn’t been the same ever since you know what! (thank you Bobby Brown!), but after all the money J Records had put out there to push Whitney and the consent reminder that this was her comeback, she would of stepped up her game. Okay, so being nice the “Nothing But Love” tour is the diva’s first tour in 10 years! but surely that doesn’t mean she could of got that bad…I suppose it just adds to the ever growing pile of evidence that Whitney used a lot of Studio “Tricks” on her “I Look To You” album.
I’m a bit confused (maybe she’s just ill!? – she should of mimed!) Listen and watch Whitney Huston trying to sing at her concert! Read the rest of this entry »
Ladies Night at the Grammys!
Feb 1st
Okay, so as well all know “Single Ladie” who “put a ring on it” walked away from last night’s Grammy awards with six (…yes six!), Grammy Awards. Beyonce not only broke the record for most Grammys won in one night but gave (a slightly bland) preformance. Is it safe to say that it’s time for Beyonce to take a bow and leave music for a while, to be fair in recent polls many people have started to say although they love Queen B, “she’s getting a little boring now”. I wouldn’t be suprised if she does – her time on the billboard seems to be over publicized and with a new song from her ever growing album shuved in peoples faces every two weeks she is slowly (oh dear) becomming annoying.
Further more, it’s become clear that Taylor’s jump to fame was a result of Kanye’s outbust at last year’s VMAs (um-hm). Although I did not disagree with what Kanye said about the award she got (back then), i’m still finding hard to believe that Taylor managed to pick up “Album of the Year” – is no one even looking at the black eyed peas!? I personally thought that they out of all of those that turned up were truly deservent of the award, with longest time on the billboard chart “I Got A Feeling” – plus “Bom Bom Pow” and “Meet Me Halfway” – WHY OH WHY PEOPLE OF MUSIC ARE YOU NOT VOTING FOR THEM!
I was proud for Lady Gaga and I though her preformance was amazing, slighly worried how she managed to attend last night and then return to her Monster Ball Tour and then finish the video to “Telephone” with Beyonce in Texas. Also with regards to that, I do wonder if the Billboard awards do have an influence on the Grammys at all, with Eminem winning best Rap album (and not bookies favourite – Jay Z). To be fair it was a good night – suprise of the evening was the winner of “Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals” being Jamie Foxx & T-Pain with “Blame It”. But hey my MoMos – what more did you really expect. In my view, the night was pretty bland! Oh yeah guy, Rihanna yet again walked in with nothing and left with nothing! And I ask my self why oh why was she there!? who invited her? – she needs to sit down and rethink her look, her stlye and a whole new voice (sorry about the on going bitching about Ri-Ri – but i do not like her!) I think it would of been nice to see more males acts in this year’s show – but hey you cannot always get what you want. So, I suppose with all that aside, we have still got the Vibe Awards (whenever they are happening!), and we cannot forget the Brit Awards!
