Leona Lewis shops with new found “friend” Angela Simmons

As odd as it may seem, yes they are friends. So Leona Lewis and Angela Simmons we spotted doing some Christmas shopping in LA this week – and I’m sure we are all thinking where has Leona Lewis been? (right?). After her flop of an album “Echo” and her short tour you’d think she is working on a new album.

Well maybe Leona Lewis wants to get close to Miss Simmons to maybe leave Sony Music and join the ever growing Island Def Jam, and I mean this is of course supported by the fact that she revealed that she will not appear as a guest performer on this year’s X Factor.

Leona told fans the news during a live webchat via UStream yesterday evening. Leona said that she will not appear on the show this year so she can “fully concentrate” on her third studio album, which is slated for release in summer 2011. – Which may I remind you, there is no confirmation about who is managing this project! (Could this mean issues with her management?)

The star further confirmed that she has not been booked to appear on any “major shows” in the near future. (ouch!) Read the rest of this entry »

Ne-Yo expecting his first child

“I do have my first child on the way, and I’m very, very, very excited about that,” the 30-year-old star told the magazine. “It’s a New Year’s baby and I’m just in a really good place right now.” – That’s right you herd it! Singer/songwriter Ne-Yo will be expecting his first child with Monyetta Shaw – well that put the “gay” rumours at bay…well for a little while that is.

The singer, who has written number one hits for Rihanna and Beyonce, said, “I am 30 and I do have my first child on the way and I’m very, very, very excited about that,” adding, “It’s a New Year’s baby.”.

In 2005 then-girlfriend Jessica White bore a son, Chimere (named after Ne-Yo, who was born Shaffer Chimere Smith). It later transpired that Ne-Yo was not the father. On learning the truth, he said at the time, “He’s known no other father but me since the day he was born, and though I did not make him, I am his father and he is my son.” - talk about “baby mama” drama!

Moving on, Besides promoting his new album Libra Scale, Ne-Yo is currently writing material for Leona Lewis‘ next album. He was also working on a track for Michael Jackson before the King of Pop’s untimely death a year ago. On the anniversary of Michael’s passing, Ne-Yo spoke of the moment he heard the news: “I remember crying like a family member had died and, like, literally asking myself, ‘Why am I crying like this?’…”. Leona Lewis “I Got You”

To be fair, it’s safe to say that this single is miles better than “Happy”. Leona finally moved away from sounding sad or like someone is trying to kill her! The song, which has thus far peaked at #29 on the UK R&B chart, serves as the 2nd single off of the vocal mistress’ sophomore album, Echo’, in that territory. The LP has thus far been certified double platinum in the UK, despite barely selling over 100k in the US.

This song should have been the 1st single from Lewis’ album instead of the dreadfully boring ‘Happy’, what a lot of people misunderstand with acts like these – they need everything (song, outfit, lyrics, style, vocals even album font and colour!). Leona Lewis cannot pull off anything, but the stuff she suits she seems to excel in! Nothing a bit of PR and Marketing wont do!

“Everybody Hurts” Haiti Charity Single!

Hope For Haiti Now!

hopeBanner3

With the on going relief efforts in Haiti, Simon Cowell announced that Jon Bon Jovi and Mariah Carey will be added to the ever growing list of singers to go on Cowell’s charity single (REM’s) “Everybody Hurts”. So far other acts to be on the track will be Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Leona Lewis, Susan Boyle, Kyle Manogue, Cheryl Cole, JLS, Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry (other acts will be added later) some romours of Miley Cyrus joining the team.

I’m glad that the UK have finally started to go for this approach to raise money for charity, after the “Hope For Haiti” concert in the states, it wasn’t long before the UK got it’s stars and some of the other platinum ones to get together!  ”It says such a lot that everyone is working so hard to help Haiti…This is something that really matters to us all, and I’m so grateful for the support we are getting” he told us. Also confirmation that the melody will be remastered and (surprise surprise) Mariah will be leading with the main vocals! I hope everyone buys this single as soon as it comes out! And for some odd reason I have a feeling that Rihanna will be added to the list…Great!

The Album Showdown Has Begun

She keeps bleeding, she keeps keeps bleeding…

3122324248_39d8965347Bleeding love superstar, Leona Lewis finally talks about her attack during her booking signing in London. She taken to the hospital Wednesday after an unprovoked attack by an unidentified attacked who was then named as (just in time!) 29-year-old Peter Kowalczyk.

Leona was signing her new book (no one really knows what it’s called or what it’s about) when Peter “suddenly” walked up to the singer and physically assaulted her by punching and slapping her before a crowd of onlookers (i thought it was just a punch?). The Syco Music Group said “Leona was the victim of an unprovoked attack…The police were called immediately and medical attention has been sought. Leona is understandably shaken and apologizes to the fans she was unable to meet and complete signings.”

Traumatised Leona (who know has bruises on the side of her face) said this statement “Thank you so much for your support it is truly overwhelming. It was a horrible shock and left me extremely hurt and upset. I’m very sorry to those I wasn’t able to meet at the signing. Thank you again for all of the lovely messages.” (Aww). Peter has been charged with assault and has been ordered to remain in a prison area for inmates with mental health problems. He is due back in court October 26 (just in time for Leona’s appearance on the X-Factor!).

Following this it looks like the whole world is going Leona crazy! The book was one of many items to be released by the British singer before he second studio album “Echo”, Leona is being describe as the young Houston/Carey/Dion of the 2000s and more recently the frequent use of Leona’s pop ballads appearing on the X-Factor (not too sure if that’s an insult to Leona with the appalling performance of Bleeding Love by Lloyd Daniels). So Leona, she’s done it all – won the X-Factor, made it big in the states and got punched in the head. Looks like Leona will keep bleeding, keep keep bleeding (and i mean that literally)

Leona Lewis got punched!?

3301255542_58448e13edOkay, hot stuff people, X-Factor winner Leona Lewis got punched in the face during her booking signing in Waterstones (London)…she left the store trying to cover her tears with her extremely large sunglasses. An eye witness said “He walked up there with the book, she signed it and as she looked up he just punched her”.

Details of the attack are still unclear, Leona’s spoke’s person said “a guy came up and punched her to the side of the head” and said that Leona was “understandably badly shaken”. Waterstones after two hours then released their statement saying “There was an incident at our Leona Lewis signing this afternoon and the event was immediately stopped…We are now doing everything we can to support the police in their enquiries.”

Other reports claim that as soon as Leona was punched, security guards jumped at the offender, but what baffles me is why Leona? (trust me, there are loads of celebs i could name that need a good beating). We are all still waiting for a statement of X-Factor princess Leona!

Claims of other celebrities pulling out from Waterstone signing due to the event has become a touchy topic for the book store, and yet we ask ourselves…is it safe for celebrities to even leave their homes!? I can answer that question. YES! Are we all missing the biggest point?, where were her body guards when she needed them? surely a superstar like Leona has about six following her, or maybe she just isn’t that important after all.
