Nicki Minaj talks Rihanna and many more future collaborations
Nov 15th
Nicki Minaj’s alter-ego Roman Zolanski wreaked havoc with Eminem’s Slim Shady on their collaboration “Roman’s Revenge.” But Nicki has a few more high-profile guests in store on her debut album, including Rihanna and Kanye West.
The Queens femcee and red-haired Bajan teamed up for “Raining Men,” a song from Rihanna’s new album Loud. RiRi returned the favor, adding her vocals to “Fly” for Pink Friday. “‘Fly’ is one of my absolute faves. I wanted to work with Rihanna for a long time. I’m very proud of her accomplishments, especially since she was born on an island like me,” wrote Nicki on her Facebook page. “This song is a female empowerment song. But then again, it’s not specific to just women. It speaks about flying, soaring high in the face of every single solitary adversity that comes your way.
“I speak about how the media has attempted to box me in and how that has made me feel suffocated. After years of being dragged thru the mud, I’ve mustered up the courage to re-define myself. I believe that I represent an entire generation. My fans have become my family and together we have become a movement. Get ready for it. We came to win.”
The Harajuku Barbie also spoke about her Kanye-assisted record “Blazin’” in an interview with DJ Drama. “That record is a dope, dope, dope record where Kanye shows off as always,” she shared. “It’s one of those for my dudes to ride to, not really crazy and animated, but just like one of them ride outs when you feel good and you just got the top down and you just want to zone out.”
Nicki appears on two songs on Kanye’s album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. She voices the intro to the album opener “Dark Fantasy” and spits a show-stealing verse on “Monster.” Read the rest of this entry »
Exclusive behind the scenes of “Last Girl On Earth Tour”
Apr 16th
With Rihanna‘s “Last Girl On Earth” tour set to kick off tonight in Europe with supporting acts like Ke$ha the finishing touches on the tour are being put in place. With Rihanna‘s “Last Girl On Earth” tour being estimated as Universal Music Group’s most expensive tour of this year everything seems to be going to plan. Rihanna has already sold our 19 of her 27 shows and in some locations management are considering to add further dates.
With a twenty song set list, and acts such as Pixie Lott and Tinchy Styrder opening for UK dates, this tour is going be off the record. Comparing to Alicia Keys‘ “Freedom” tour, production on this tour had gone to the extent of a large gun that Rihanna sits on whilst being lowered to one of three stages being used during the tour. Random fact an estimated 14,00 LED screens are being used on this tour! For tickets please visit GigLocator.
P Diddy to become new manager for Nicki Minaj
Apr 16th
With Nicki Minaj firing her previous manager (oddly) after dropping out of the dual Rihanna and Ke$sha world tour, increasing pressure has been put on young money rapper to pull things together to push out and official (not a cheap mixtape!) début album. Nicki Minaj told her fans via her twitter (@NickiMinaj): “Barbz I’m sorry 2 say I will not be going out on RiRI’s tour. I’ve decided 2 use that time 4 the completion of my album.”
Even though the tour would of helped Nicki Minaj‘s public appearance and in some ways gained more fans from other audiences after her disastrous first single “Massive Attack” featuring Sean Garret which did not chart on any R&B Hip Hop chart. With Universal Music Group management unhappy with Nicki Minaj efforts to be more radio friendly and to actually sell discs (and that’s not illegal downloads), she has found herself a new manager.
In order to save her much anticipated career she has hired P.Diddy to manage her next working project, P.Diddy is know for his huge efforts in Bad Boy Entertainment and two failing bands Danity Kane and Day26. Other information has surfaced that Rick Ross will be co-piloting the project. As it stands Nicki Minaj will be pushing the as yet untitled album by this summer. More information as it comes keep it MoMo!
Ke$ha Shoots ‘Your Love Is My Drug’ Video
Apr 10th
Pop ‘rebel’ Ke$ha braved the heat of the Californian desert this week to shoot the video for new single ‘Your Love Is My Drug’. The track, which is the third offering to be lifted from the 23 year old’s ‘Animal’ LP, is currently #32 on the Billboard Hot 100 – with radio spins and downloads indicating that it will almost certainly continue to rise on the chart.
As for the video, which you see more; MTV reports that it will “follow Ke$ha on a fun journey through an animated world” – (yawn!…only kidding). Check out the hot shots Read the rest of this entry »
Rihanna, Ke$ha & Nicki Minaj on “Last Girl On Earth Tour”
Apr 7th
Yes! The “Last Girl On Earth Tour” is going to be huge, this is one of Universal Music Group’s largest dual tours! With Rihanna taking main stage with the aid of Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha (who we haven’t heard from in a while) for an amazing 34 (and more being planned) shows. Only North American dates have been released but more world dates are being in the process of confirmation between the venues and the Universal Music Group.
With Rihanna‘s hot single “Rude Boy” still #1 on the billbaord hot 100, it makes sense for her to go on a global tour – however it’s clear that the introduction of not just one but two side acts suggests that Rihanna may have struggled to fill up arena’s during her tour! Also with her new album set for release this summer, she’s cutting this all a little too close – to push a new tour and a new album in a short time could lead to exhaustion (we all saw what happened to Lady Gaga – who if I may add, is still touring!). To be fair I think Rihanna was expecting a lot more from this project – after the huge success of her previous albums she did ship fewer on this LP (ouch!), but then we can shove some of the blame on good old L.A.Reid! – who is now focusing on Jennifer No-pez…I mean Lopez (eek!).
Either way this tour will be off the hook, I cannot wait until they release the set list – Are you ready for a long chain of shows of excessive auto-tune and leather panties - and not forgetting all backing dancers! Visit GigLocator.com for more info Read the rest of this entry »
