Nicki Minaj talks Rihanna and many more future collaborations

Nicki Minaj’s alter-ego Roman Zolanski wreaked havoc with Eminem’s Slim Shady on their collaboration “Roman’s Revenge.” But Nicki has a few more high-profile guests in store on her debut album, including Rihanna and Kanye West.

The Queens femcee and red-haired Bajan teamed up for “Raining Men,” a song from Rihanna’s new album Loud. RiRi returned the favor, adding her vocals to “Fly” for Pink Friday. “‘Fly’ is one of my absolute faves. I wanted to work with Rihanna for a long time. I’m very proud of her accomplishments, especially since she was born on an island like me,” wrote Nicki on her Facebook page. “This song is a female empowerment song. But then again, it’s not specific to just women. It speaks about flying, soaring high in the face of every single solitary adversity that comes your way.

“I speak about how the media has attempted to box me in and how that has made me feel suffocated. After years of being dragged thru the mud, I’ve mustered up the courage to re-define myself. I believe that I represent an entire generation. My fans have become my family and together we have become a movement. Get ready for it. We came to win.”

The Harajuku Barbie also spoke about her Kanye-assisted record “Blazin’” in an interview with DJ Drama. “That record is a dope, dope, dope record where Kanye shows off as always,” she shared. “It’s one of those for my dudes to ride to, not really crazy and animated, but just like one of them ride outs when you feel good and you just got the top down and you just want to zone out.”

Nicki appears on two songs on Kanye’s album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. She voices the intro to the album opener “Dark Fantasy” and spits a show-stealing verse on “Monster.” Read the rest of this entry »

That’s right! The freaks came out for Katy Perry’s bachelorette party. After months of planning, Rihanna threw her BFF a celebration over the weekend in Las Vegas. RiRi contrasted her striking red locks with a form-fitting white dress, while the “California Gurl” wore a tiny veiled hat with the word “Bride” on it. Katy Perry and EMI are now at war?

Katy Perry has slammed her record label for trying to convince her to make her music more family friendly. The “California Gurls“ singer claimed Capitoltried to persuade her against including certain tracks on the final tracklisting for her forthcoming album “Teenage Dream“, for fear they were too controversial.

Katy revealed that the record company weren’t impressed she’d recorded a song called Peacock. “They were all a bit worried about the word ‘c**k’ and it gave me deja vu because they did the exact same thing with ”I Kissed A Girl“. They said, ‘We don’t see it as a single, we don’t want it on the album’. And I was like, ‘You guys are idiots’.

“I always try and make a lasting impression and I work very hard,” she explained. “My father has a saying, ‘You can’t be a flash in the pan’. This record is important to me because it will prove that my last album One Of The Boys wasn’t just luck.”

The 25-year-old has just put the finishing touches on her new album and discussed the effort she went to in order to ensure everything was perfect.

“I’m in the studio fighting with them to change the melody or I’m fighting for the best lyric at all times. I think we rewrote “Teenage Dream” five times for 10 days straight. On the last day, I was so happy to finally get somewhere that we all agreed on.” Read the rest of this entry »
