Kanye West is keeping up with Kim Kardashian. The rapper was spotted outside a studio in Los Angeles, reportedly where Kim was shooting a music video for her forthcoming single. Kanye West got in the Christmas spirit by giving back. The rapper showed off his gift-wrapping skills at the New Yorkers for Children Wrap to Rap benefit at The Ainsworth in New York City earlier this week. His Runaway co-star Selita Ebanks helped bring smiles to the faces of foster care children (and Kanye) with the neatly-wrapped holiday goodies.

With that a side, that isn’t the only thing he should be unwrapping, put it this way the only person who can beat Kanye West is Kanye West. The rapper’s latest effort, “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy“, has captured the top spot on the charts this week, selling an impressive 518,775 copies. This means that the record has sold almost 70k more than his previous effort, “808 & Heartbreak“, which debuted with just over 450k in the same week two years prior.

With the LP already set for a Gold certification within it’s opening week, Platinum only seems a few moments away as the LP sales are expected to further increase during December. West has managed to outperform even Nicki Minaj whose “Pink Friday“ debut LP sold 371,049 units. Minaj has no reason to worry, however, as her nemesis Lil Kim’s debut album, ”Hardcore“, entered the charts at at a disappointing #36 in November 1996. (more…)

Hip-hop looks to dominate next week’s Billboard charts. After a week filled with high-profile releases, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj are on track to outsell the competition and take the top two spots. According to sources, which forecasts album sales, Kanye West’s highly-acclaimed fifth album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is expected to sell 525-575,000 copies in its first week in stores, coming in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Meanwhile, ‘Ye’s collaborator Nicki Minaj will have a “Monster” opening week herself with 375-400,000 copies of her debut Pink Friday. Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill currently holds the title for most albums sold by a female MC in one week with 422,000 when it debuted in 1998.

Elsewhere on the charts, Rihanna’s Loud is benefiting from Thanksgiving week sales in its second week with 140-160,000, with her labelmate Justin Bieber’s My Worlds Acoustic on par with those numbers. Despite delays and an early leak, Ne-Yo’s fourth LP Libra Scale could dance away with 120-140,000, putting it in the top 10. These figures could see a boost due to the busy Black Friday shopping weekend. Kanye West didn’t make any promotional appearances or even tweet on his album release day. Kanye West may have lost out on some deserving awards in the past, but he didn’t need to cut any speeches short at the 14th Annual ACE Awards because he was the night’s big winner. The dapper rapper was honored as Stylemaker of the Year for his “personal style and influence on fashion” at the Accessories Council’s event held at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.

“When they make a list of 100 New Yorkers, and I’m not on it, it breaks my heart,” an admittedly nervous Kanye told the audience. “Thank you for this moment of acceptance.”

Before the awards, ‘Ye sat down with Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex for an interview, which will air this week over in the states. Further more Kanye West kept fans waiting for an hour for a Ustream chat and Def Jam conference call, but the Chi-town rapper finally appeared to discuss his album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

With his G.O.O.D. Music fam Big Sean, CyHi the Prynce, and Pusha T joining him for the session, ‘Ye showed the three-fold physical copy of the fancy packaging with additional slide-out covers, and spoke of working with Q-Tip and Madlib for his collabo album with Jay-Z Watch the Throne, putting J. Cole on a G.O.O.D. Friday track, and how he was inspired by Ol’ Dirty Bastard. Everyone wants a piece of the Barbie. Nicki Minaj attracted a massive crowd outside of Mansion in Miami this week. Wearing a flashy rock on her finger, the pink-haired raptress was mobbed by fans and autograph seekers as she exited the nightclub following a paid gig.

But with her unprecedented success comes more haters, including those within the industry. “These girls aren’t mad at me. They’re mad at themselves,” she told YRB magazine of her peers. “[It’s] jealousy, insecurity, and being broke. When you haven’t capitalized and you see I’m about to capitalize on this shit like it’s never been done before, then you’re mad at yourself.”

Nicki Minaj stopped by San Francisco’s KMEL 106.1 for a quickchat. The pink lady spoke about which song of hers she can’t wait to hear on the radio, touring for the next two years, still feeling underground despite her success (“I really don’t feel mainstream yet”), being flown out to perform with Jay-Z and Kanye at Yankee Stadium, and signing boobs for her Barbz. “I do feel like this is a rock star era,” said Nicki. Her album “Pink Friday” is scheduled to hit stores November the 22nd, and is planning to rival some big names on the album chart that week.

Nicki Minaj has also been booked for a short tour of the UK, although there is no official announcement about any of her promo tour internal sources have said planning is definitely under way! (more…)

Kanye West touched down in the Land Down Under for the fourth screening of his “Runaway” film over the past week following his global trek to Paris, London, and Tokyo. The smiling rapper was greeted by fans and press as he emerged from his Mercedes-Benz in a black suit and entered Sydney’s Entertainment village.

“Just got to Australia…staring at the Sydney Opera house from my hotel window… Life is awesome!” ‘Ye tweeted upon his arrival.

He is on deadline to finish his fifth album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy in order to make its November 22 release date. “Got 2 days to turn in the album,” he wrote. Without a doubt i’m nervous for Kanye West, a little to early for album promotion when his label haven’t even decided what tracks are going to make it to the final record!?

Prime example of the vanishing of Kanye West‘s “Power” video, after a short run of internet hype over the one minute freak video I struggle to see any direction of the entire project if i’m honest with you. Oh well, after all it’s Kanye West i’m sure he’s bound to some how squeeze he awful record onto radio playlists across the globe and some how rack up a platinum album, isn’t that right Mr West? Jay-Z spent on of his late nights catching up with Pharrell backstage at N.E.R.D.’s show with Gorillaz at NYC’s Madison Square Garden, wearing a blue sweatshirt depicting the artwork from his upcoming Decoded book. The image is one of Andy Warhol’s Rorschach inkblots.

Although he’s no longer signed to the label, Def Jam is planning to release Jay’s greatest hits package on November 23. The two-disc set, titled The Hits Collection Volume 1, will include five previously unreleased tracks and a 32-page mini-book bound in white linen with Hov’s diamond logo.

Jay-Z’s The Hits Collection Vol. 1 follows the release of last years The Blueprint Collection and The Blueprint 3. Jay-Z will also appear on West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. November 22nd marks a huge day for Def Jam as not only is Jay Z pushing out an album but also Kanye West and Ne-Yo also.

Jay-Z will be releasing The Hits Collection Vol. 1 while West will be releasing My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy; both albums will be released through Def Jam. Earlier this week West confirmed that he had in fact chosen to stick with My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy as his album title and he also revealed the name of the first single. (more…)

Is Kanye West crushing on a Kardashian? After getting comfy with supermodel Selita Ebanks at the U.S. Open, Yeezy put a smile on another sexy lady’s face. Kanye, in a black suit and peacoat, was seen in New York filming scenes for Kim Kardashian’s new reality show “Kourtney and Kim Take New York.” Joining them was Kim’s sister Kourtney and her boyfriend Scott Disick. While rumored to be dating the socialite in the past, West wasn’t able to stick around for long, jetting to Paris to work on some typefaces and screen his “Runaway” film.

Kanye West and Selita Ebanks took their friendship one step further, walking hand in hand to the Grazia Masquerade Ball at Opera Garnier in Paris, France, on Tuesday night (Oct. 5). The fashionable couple, dressed to the nines, was last publicly seen sharing a laugh at the U.S. Open.

Yeezy, who separated from Amber Rose earlier this year, told Angie Martinez that his next girlfriend has to be wifey material. “I’m not trying to dive into anything unless I really, really think that I can marry this person,” he said. “I look at this person and I say, ‘This is how I want my daughter to be.”

In all fairness I do love Kanye, but what the hell is going on with this whole modern art movement…? Just please sit down Mr. West. (more…)

The Roc was in the building Wednesday night at the fall campaign celebration for Rocawear. Jay-Z and Kanye West shared a booth at NYC’s Hotel Gansevoort, where fellow stars including Bun B, Omarion, Estelle, Melody Thornton, Serena Williams, Selita Ebanks, and Common rubbed elbows.

Patrons were treated to performances from Rocawear’s latest celebrity models Trey Songz and Melanie Fiona, while DJs Solange and NVM manned the wheels of steel. After the party, VIPs migrated to the Angelika Film Center for a 15-minute screening of Kanye’s “Runaway” film.

“The @kanyewest preview to his film blew my mind. On my mind. In my mind,” tweeted Solange following the event. “I feel over stimulated, but in the most bittersweet capacity. Pure panic in my hands. Excitement. Shivering. Brain collapses. Brain surges.”.

With both Jay-Z and Kanye West being photographed together only weeks together at dinner, it’s weird to see these to come together!
