Alicia Keys and stars die for the cause!

Twitter streams across the world are about to lose some starpower. On Wednesday (Dec. 1), celebs including Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Justin Timberlake, Kim Kardashian, Janelle Monáe, Swizz Beatz, Jay Sean, and more are taking part in the new campaign Digital Life Sacrifice where they will sign off of social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter on behalf of Keys’ charity Keep a Child Alive.

The digital protest is intended to raise money on World AIDS Day, with participants signing back on to their respective social networking profiles when the charity raises $1 million. Many have filmed “last tweet and testament” advertisements where they laid in coffins to represent their “digital deaths” in preparation for the big day.

“It’s really important and super-cool to use mediums that we naturally are on,” Keys tells the AP of the digital protest. “It’s so important to shock you to the point of waking up. It’s not that people don’t care or it’s not that people don’t want to do something, it’s that they never thought of it quite like that.”

Alicia Keys believes that shutting down celebrity profiles will have an immediate impact. “This is such a direct and instantly emotional way and a little sarcastic, you know, of a way to get people to pay attention,” Read the rest of this entry »

Record Labels sue porn websites…

Elektra, Atlantic, Warner Brothers and Bad Boy are among 11 record labels that have clubbed together to sue adult websites RK Netmedia and RealityKings for using their music in porn films. – Really!? I wonder who stumbled across that discovery?

Songs such as Justin Timberlake‘s “SexyBack“, Michael Jackson’s “Don’t Stop (Til You Get Enough)” and Katy Perry’sI Kissed a Girl have been used as background music in various adult films, while “models or actors are performing their scenes”. – As much as it sounds pretty cheap and tacky, the porn industry takes in huge revenue, I would be surprised if any record label would ask for loyalties off  the “film” makers.

The 18-page lawsuit suggests that in some cases the titles of the films have taken their inspiration directly from the songs, such as one called “Bringing Sexy Back” – sorry I tried to hold in my laughter.

It also states that sometimes, “performers ‘lip-sync’ the lyrics of a song while engaged in intercourse or other sexual activity”. The record labels are demanding $150,000 (wow!) for each copyright infringement listed in the suit.

Needless to say, I think this is a lesson we’ve all learnt today…If you don’t own it, don’t flaunt it. I would just hate to see acts like Michael Jackson being used in such actives on the net, I mean I don’t judge, but if he’s a hum-dinger for you then that’s okay with me (I guess)! Justin Bieber “Somebody To Love (Remix)” ft. Usher

So finally Justin Bieber aged up and finally silenced his critics with his new single featuring Usher “Somebody To Love”. Although this video has gone down the Usher/Justin Timberlake route, it’s one where Justin Bieber will be visiting often. What can I say, pretty much a standard Pop R&B video (notice the talcum powder being used and oh! is that Bieber’s hair being blown back by fans!? Divo!). “Somebody to love” who was originally written by Trey Songz without a doubt shows off  Usher‘s vocals more than Justin Bieber‘s; I wouldn’t be too surprised if I found this track on one of Usher‘s LPs!

I’m beginning to wonder too see how much more these guys sitting in Def Jam can do with Justin Bieber! Needless to say that time will catch up with this kid, and he no where near the bagfuls of talent like stars did when they were his age. Despite the whole Justin Bieber craze going on right now, it will only take a Lady Gaga album for all the attention to be sucked away from him! In other news; Bieber’s new “pedo” girlfriend Kim Kardashian is still receiving death threats from Justin Bieber fans; one tweet reading “I love u too sweetie pie RT @lillly_roose @KimKardashian Bitch leave Justin Biber. I will kill you. I hate you.” wow! Even more so rumours of a sex tape have began to leak! Keep it locked on MoMo for more info! Read the rest of this entry »

JLS new album details

MoMo’s exclusive sources from Sony Music has informed us that Jive Records after their intense arena tour JLS will be then pushed to release a new album for late 2010 or even in the first quarter of 2011 (oh…joy!). In fairness it would be nice to see what major pop label Jive do to these boys, everyone knows that UK acts have always struggled in US markets  (Jay Sean dropped from Cash Money, Alexandra Burke‘s shelved from shipping to the states), although there is a gap in the market for the boys it’s essential that JLS work on what type of boy band they want to be.

Needless to day JLS‘s début album was pretty much 13 tracks of mid-tempo same old pop crossover R&B. If there is one thing is for sure they guys will not be transferred to legends like Boys II MenJagged Edge or Dru Hill – however the vocal potential is there however I’m still trying to get my head around why JLS has been restricted to use there vocal talents in any of there singles. With new album under development and edging toward production from June; huge producers such as Darkchild (who’s worked with the likes of Mariah Carey, Destiny’s Child, Britney Spears, J Holiday, Janet Jackson and Lady Gaga) have been called in to work on the album along side boyband superstar Justin Timberlake.

We are currently waiting for a further release date, and possible track list; it’s been official that JLS will be covering a huge soul ballad. For more info keep it MoMo.

Ginuwine attacks Timbaland!?

In an interview with Vibe Magazine, Ginuwine “expressed” his feelings (if that’s what you want to call it) towards old friend and mentor Timbaland, The 39 year old expressed his displeasure at being shunned by the hitmaker when recording his most recent LP, ‘A Mans Thoughts’, which debuted at #9 on the Billboard 200 last June (aw, how emotional!).

Some will remember Ginuwine, along with Timbaland, Missy Elliott, and the late Aaliyah were the huge chart topping forces back in the 90s! But then we all know (along side his increasing weight and health problem!) Timbaland loves to add news friends to his place (you get that? plate/food – I crack myself up!). Here is what Ginuwine told Vibe Magazine.

“He really hasn’t been interested in working with me, so I can’t speak on the present,” what Ginuwine tells VIBE of Timbaland. “But back in the days, it spoke for itself as far as him being the most sought after producer. Music was boring until he came out with that new sound. Back then, I would have described it as futuristic because it was something that had not been done and people jumped on it. If it wasn’t for him making that style as hot as it is, a lot of producers that’s out now maybe wouldn’t even be here.”

The singer adds that he’s still upset at Timbaland (but hey, what can you do?) for not supporting him promotionally on his 2009 project, A Man’s Thoughts, despite producing a song for the album. Read the rest of this entry »

Justin Timberlake admits he’s going to struggle

Justin Timberlake told close sources that the singer/songwriter will find it hard for his commercial comeback later on this year. “music has definitely changed since when I came out with FutureSex/LoveSounds, i’m just going to have to keep up with the competition out there…yes, there are a lot of talented acts…but that’s something i’ve just got to deal with”. FutureSex/LoveSounds was JT’s four times platinum selling album and made Justin’s Pop/R&B career today.

With that in account, it’s clear that Justin has thought about this – seeing huge titles like Rihanna’s Rated R and Mariah’s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel have poor commercial success, JT will have to push himself further for this LP. Sources from JT’s label have confirmed that the Untitled album is mid-way through production and have also confirmed (these are not all of them!) that T.I., Rihanna and Drake will feature on the new LP. Depending on the album’s success which will be released around November 2010, there will be a short promotional tour.

With all that said i’m slightly worried about this LP, with JT vanished off the music scene for a total of four years I can sense that this album maybe pushed back into January 2011! Furthermore, JT has also joined the increasing amount of music stars that now feature in films (sigh!). Justin is currently working on “Sherk Forever After” and the comedy film drama “The Social Network” – well JT if all else fails, you still got your acting!
