Yes! Mariah Carey is having twins!
Dec 18th
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are about to be parents twice over. Nick revealed that he and his wife are expecting twins. “My wife at one time, she referred to her stomach as they and that probably wasn’t the wrong thing for her to do. That’s all I’m gonna say,” he told “E! News.” The “America’s Got Talent” host also mentioned “new additions” to his family in an online holiday greeting card. The babies are due early next year, but Nick wouldn’t disclose their gender.
Mariah Carey received an early Christmas present. The festive diva’s second holiday album in 16 years, Merry Christmas II You, makes a top 5 debut this week on the charts.
Led by the cheery single “Oh Santa!,” the new collection of holiday recordings entered at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart with 55,000 copies sold in its first week. This marks Mimi’s 16th album to bow in the top 10, putting her only behind Barbra Streisand (30) and Madonna (19) to have as many albums enter the territory in their first week out.
With a little more than a few days to go until Christmas, the expectant mom bests the first week of her 1994 seasonal release Merry Christmas, which debuted Read the rest of this entry »
Island Def Jam showcase Jennifer Lopez’s new album…
Dec 18th
Jennifer Lopez feels the Love? on the cover of her seventh album, due on Island Def Jam next year. Chosen as one of Barbara Walters’ “10 Most Fascinating People of 2010,” J.Lo revealed the artwork during her interview last night, with the singer-actress decked out in diamonds and a fur coat while she looks off into the distance.
Additionally, the entertainer spoke about her upcoming judging gig on the 2011 season of “American Idol” and the hesitancy she felt in agreeing to it. “When they first offered it to me, I was like, no. And then I thought to myself, I’ll be at home with the babies. It just seemed like, wow, we can have a little bit of a normal life for like, seven months. That would be fun!” she exclaimed.
J.Lo also spoke on keeping it real when it comes to judging the contestants. “I can be honest, but I don’t like being mean. I don’t like when people are mean to me, so I don’t want to be mean to anybody,” Read the rest of this entry »
A big week for Hip-Hop!
Nov 29th
Hip-hop looks to dominate next week’s Billboard charts. After a week filled with high-profile releases, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj are on track to outsell the competition and take the top two spots. According to sources, which forecasts album sales, Kanye West’s highly-acclaimed fifth album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is expected to sell 525-575,000 copies in its first week in stores, coming in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Meanwhile, ‘Ye’s collaborator Nicki Minaj will have a “Monster” opening week herself with 375-400,000 copies of her debut Pink Friday. Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill currently holds the title for most albums sold by a female MC in one week with 422,000 when it debuted in 1998.
Elsewhere on the charts, Rihanna’s Loud is benefiting from Thanksgiving week sales in its second week with 140-160,000, with her labelmate Justin Bieber’s My Worlds Acoustic on par with those numbers. Despite delays and an early leak, Ne-Yo’s fourth LP Libra Scale could dance away with 120-140,000, putting it in the top 10. These figures could see a boost due to the busy Black Friday shopping weekend. Read the rest of this entry »
Mariah Carey does a Christmas and Nicki Minaj special
Nov 23rd
Yes that’s right, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. And thanks to Mariah Carey she’s spreading the holiday cheer during the taping of her ABC special, “Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas to You,” earlier this month at The Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. – I know it’s a little early but come on now, this is Mariah!
Mariah’s lambs were treated to unforgettable renditions of yuletide classics and original tunes from her two holiday albums, including her latest hit “Oh Santa!” The pregnant songstress also surprised some fans by helping make their holiday wishes come true. Mariah also spoke about the up and coming rap queen Nicki Minaj who she recorded a single with off the “failed” album “Angels Advocate“.
Pop fans were introduced to Nicki Minaj when she appeared on the remix to Mariah Carey’s “Up Out My Face.” Nicki shares the encouraging words the pop diva told her that gave her a boost of confidence (of course! Nicki is now best friends with everyone apart from Lil Kim!). “I was shaking,” she recalls after meeting the Grammy-winning songbird. “After we shot the video, she gave me a little pep talk that was really sweet and sentimental. She was like, ‘You’re going to make it. You’re going to be really big!’” Read the rest of this entry »
Ne-Yo is now a father to a beautiful baby girl…
Nov 15th
Ne-Yo is adding a new role to his already extensive résumé. The R&B crooner has become a father for the first time. His girlfriend, Soul Men actress Monyetta Shaw, gave birth Friday night to a baby girl.
The baby, originally due in the new year, was born in an Atlanta hospital. The “Beautiful Monster” singer, 31, was reportedly at a charity event for his foundation when he was informed that Shaw had gone into labor, but he made it to the hospital in time to witness the birth. A previously scheduled baby shower was to take place at the hospital Saturday.
“Much luv to my twit fam and everybody showin’ luv to my new addition!! She’s healthy and happy. Feels like I’m in luv for the first time,” tweeted the new father. “Welcoming that lil’ girl to the world last night defined for me what ‘willing to kill and die for’ truly means. My world, my life, all hers.”
Ne-Yo will perform at next Sunday’s American Music Awards before giving birth to his fourth album Libra Scale on November 22. “Brand new baby, brand new album. Life is GOOD!!!!”
I’m sure it is Ne-Yo from me congratulations! We are all so so so happy for you and blessing are with you forever and always! Read the rest of this entry »
Rihanna to shift platinum in first week of sales!
Nov 9th
Let me just sit down for a moment! Yes Island Def Jam were kind enough to send me some tracks – if you haven’t pre-ordered”Loud” you need to do it now! I can easily predict that Rihanna’s final album from Island Def Jam will got Platinum within the opening week after a little research we did!
The production on this LP sounds amazing (as is expected from the world class team of producers commissioned by her label) but as usual her voice sounds atrocious. It is amazing that after 5 albums and multiple tours Rihanna has yet to learn how to maxmise her potential as a vocalist.
Furthermore, with the exception of the occasional insertion of West Indian twang, there is nothing on this record to be as unique as she claimed. In fact, I am sure that Lady GaGa could have performed all of these records just about matching the talent. Rihanna basically applied the noise erupting from her throat to a series of well-crafted beats, added a bit of creole language and expected this album to be in a lane by itself. – but that is hot!
It will be interesting to see how this album performs. Rihanna is releasing this project in a time when both Taylor Swift and Susan Boyle have records on the market and, as her fans conveniently forget to point out, Rihanna never got a #1 album. It looks like history is about to be changed! Read the rest of this entry »
Rihanna’s “Rated R” album snippets
Nov 6th
With less than two weeks before Rihanna’s fifth album Loud hits stores, snippets from the offering have surfaced online, giving a sneak peek of what to expect on the Bajan babe’s latest.
Boasting guest appearances from Eminem (“Love the Way You Lie (Part II)”), Nicki Minaj (“Raining Men”), and Drake (“What’s My Name?”), Loud is noticeably sunnier than 2009’s Rated R, with upbeat fare like lead single “Only Girl (In the World)” and the Avril Lavigne-sampled “Cheers (Drink to That).”
Being the last album for Rihanna under the Island Def Jam umbrella, the label are trying to push out every single off the album as a single – also note that “Who’s That Chick” will not be appearing on the album due to special licensing to the Doritos campaign. Rumours are that Island Def Jam are planning a Greatest hits LP. Preview Little Miss Sunshine’s 11-track LP before it arrives November 16. Read the rest of this entry »
Kanye West tells us more about the album’s…packaging?
Nov 5th
Kanye West may have lost out on some deserving awards in the past, but he didn’t need to cut any speeches short at the 14th Annual ACE Awards because he was the night’s big winner. The dapper rapper was honored as Stylemaker of the Year for his “personal style and influence on fashion” at the Accessories Council’s event held at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.
“When they make a list of 100 New Yorkers, and I’m not on it, it breaks my heart,” an admittedly nervous Kanye told the audience. “Thank you for this moment of acceptance.”
Before the awards, ‘Ye sat down with Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex for an interview, which will air this week over in the states. Further more Kanye West kept fans waiting for an hour for a Ustream chat and Def Jam conference call, but the Chi-town rapper finally appeared to discuss his album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
With his G.O.O.D. Music fam Big Sean, CyHi the Prynce, and Pusha T joining him for the session, ‘Ye showed the three-fold physical copy of the fancy packaging with additional slide-out covers, and spoke of working with Q-Tip and Madlib for his collabo album with Jay-Z Watch the Throne, putting J. Cole on a G.O.O.D. Friday track, and how he was inspired by Ol’ Dirty Bastard. The MoMo Show will be giving away exclusive copies of the album so keep it locked for you chance to win this amazing album by Kanye West. Read the rest of this entry »
Rihanna shoots video with Drake!
Oct 31st
I hate to say it but, I think there may be a little more chemistry building between these two! So Rihanna returned to a familiar place to shoot additional scenes for her second single “What’s My Name?” The red-haired siren cozied up to her co-star Drake in downtown Manhattan during the night shoot on Wednesday, where onlookers watched the two get up close and personal outside of a bodega.
RiRi shot part of the video without Drake last month with director Philip Andelman. The Drake version of the Stargate-produced song will appear on her fifth album Loud, due November 16. She gushed about her collaborator in a previous interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Max. “Drake is such a cool guy, man,” said RiRi. “He’s like one of my great friends.”
And yes TheMoMoShow.com will also be interviewing Rihanna in the coming months so be sure to submit your questions as soon as possible! Rihanna has been busy promoting her all brand new album “LOUD” – this is also Rihanna’s last album on the Island Def Jam label so it will be interesting if Rihanna will regret moving to Roc Nation after the huge success this LP is expected to get.
“What’s My Name” will be the second track to be release off the LOUD LP shortly followed by “Who’s That Chick” which features on the Doritos campaign Read the rest of this entry »
Ne-Yo not stressed over album leak?
Oct 27th
A month before it hits U.S. stores on November 22, Ne-Yo’s fourth album Libra Scale has sprung a leak on the Internet. While promoting the project today in Japan, the singer-songwriter calmly accepted the premature release, but also had some words for those who leaked it.
“It has been brought to my attention that my album was hacked and leaked in the U.S. roughly a month before it’s U.S. release,” tweeted the R&B gentleman. “Initially this angered me. It’s stealing plain n’ simple. But then I started thinking. Why do I make music? To sell records, make money, or is it because I love it, love how it touches people, how it helps people? The honest answer is both.”
Despite his initial feelings, the 28-year-old chanteur has come to terms with the leak. “I’ve come to this place of mental peace. No longer stressing people that steal the music, how it’ll effect my sales,” he shared. “The bottom line is, I worked hard on this project. The music, the concept, the whole lot is for the people, respect or not.” He also expressed that he isn’t focused on record sales, as long as he’s happy with the material. “Ether way, the music, the concept, the whole lot, served it’s purpose. It gave the people something quality to vibe to. I’m not solely in the business of selling records. I’m in the business of making art. That’s what an artist does, period.” Read the rest of this entry »
