Keri Hilson says “No, It’s money in the bank”
Jun 27th
Keri Hilson has talked about writing big hits for artists such as Britney Spears and Omarion and not keeping them for herself, but she doesn’t care as it made her a lot of money. She told us: “No, its money in the bank. That’s my means of living. There’s two sides of me, and neither takes preference. One is just a dream that I fought long and hard for. Songwriting was my Plan B. My whole life, I’ve fought to just do this. I didn’t know that I’d be able to take off as far, or as fast, as I did, but I knew I had a talent and that I should pursue it, because there’s money in it. When I wasn’t able to perform, and lost the record deal, I took the path of Plan B, and now I love them equally.
“I can’t have one without the other. Even at my biggest, I want to be writing for other artists. Even at my peak, the highest I can be as an artist, I always want to be keeping my creative juices flowing, keeping money in the bank, putting my intellectual property out there.” Even so, Keri Hilson hasn’t yet got a hit without the help of a duo or feature of the track! For example Ne-Yo/Kanye West and not forgetting Timbaland! I think what she was trying to say is, She don’t care if the next album flops, she making enough money through song writing, she don’t care! She got money in the bank! A little disappointed with Keri Hilson, I really thought tracks like “Energy” and “I like” could of done well, maybe it’s Keri Hilson‘s management not placing her right within her market? I’m sure the new album will have some hits, after all it’s Keri Hilson! Read the rest of this entry »
this is…Mumzy Stranger
May 25th
East London boy Mumzy Stranger is the latest UK pop-urban sensation to surface the music scene. Already being named as the UK’s answer to Sean Paul; it’s clear the standards have been set high and with yet an official début album to release , it’s only going to increase the anticipation for Mumzy Stranger début LP.
Unlike many UK acts who try stick to their genre and their genre only; already with the first few lines of singles released and we are told there is a lot more and better to come. We can all tell Mumzy Stranger is no stranger to being diverse. In many ways Mumzy reminds me of a male version of Pixie Lott with a more urban edged twist on him. A prime example of how a young boy who set a up a studio in his room and after countless commitment has finally made it to where he wants to be; further more another prime example of how UK acts getting the recognition they deserve!
Mumzy Stranger was lucky given this opportunity by mentor and producer Rishi Rich who’s worked with the likes of Britney Spears, Madonna, Craig David and Jay Sean. And is also expected to collaborate and work with EastEnder’s star Preeya Kalidas (who is also working on her own solo project with UMG’s Mercury Records).
Expect big things from Mumzy Stranger for 2010; this is one act that MoMo knows that will believe over this summer! Keep it locked for more info! Read the rest of this entry »
Britney Spears was originally meant to sing “Telephone”!?
May 3rd
Yes, so have you ever wonder how Britney Spears would sound singing Lady GaGa’s smash”Telephone“? If so, now you can, following the surfacing of what appears to be the Pop superstar’s unmastered demo of the Darkchild produced song.
Spears was offered the track, recorded it, yet didn’t use it, leaving it to be snapped up by GaGa not long after which lead to Lady GaGa’s ever growing success. This isn’t the first time Britney Spears rejected similar pop hits; not long ago Rihanna‘s “Umbrella” also was placed to the management of Britney Spears which later that year after recording it she shelved the entire song which was given to Rihanna at a risk.
Although Britney Spears is becoming more and more irrelevant to this day and age in music it’s proves that her legacy lives on with A-List producers are still willing to hand over their hits to singers like herself. With no other confirmed work from Britney Spears it’s hard to see her making a comeback soon after the success with singles such as “3“.
In regards to “Telephone“; I’d anyway chose Lady GaGa’s take on the record, however if you listen closely on the mastered track which Lady GaGa sings - Britney Spears lead backing vocal is still present on the tune and plays through out the chorus! Does this make it Lady GaGa feat Beyonce and Britney Spears? Click her to listen! Read the rest of this entry »
JLS new album details
Apr 17th
MoMo’s exclusive sources from Sony Music has informed us that Jive Records after their intense arena tour JLS will be then pushed to release a new album for late 2010 or even in the first quarter of 2011 (oh…joy!). In fairness it would be nice to see what major pop label Jive do to these boys, everyone knows that UK acts have always struggled in US markets (Jay Sean dropped from Cash Money, Alexandra Burke‘s shelved from shipping to the states), although there is a gap in the market for the boys it’s essential that JLS work on what type of boy band they want to be.
Needless to day JLS‘s début album was pretty much 13 tracks of mid-tempo same old pop crossover R&B. If there is one thing is for sure they guys will not be transferred to legends like Boys II Men, Jagged Edge or Dru Hill – however the vocal potential is there however I’m still trying to get my head around why JLS has been restricted to use there vocal talents in any of there singles. With new album under development and edging toward production from June; huge producers such as Darkchild (who’s worked with the likes of Mariah Carey, Destiny’s Child, Britney Spears, J Holiday, Janet Jackson and Lady Gaga) have been called in to work on the album along side boyband superstar Justin Timberlake.
We are currently waiting for a further release date, and possible track list; it’s been official that JLS will be covering a huge soul ballad. For more info keep it MoMo.
Darkchild to produce tracks for Britney!?
Nov 27th
With Britney’s new album set for a May 2010 release (oh my!), the Pop starlet and her team have somehow (yup this is 100% true) hitmaker Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins to produce tracks like “Feedback”, “When I Grow Up”. This was all confirmed via his Twitter; Jerkins said: “In the studio creating a smash for Britney right now!!! Got the call this morning!!! January we start!!!” (Oh how exciting), For some odd reason, I seem to have a bad feeling about this; there is only two directions this can really go into…really good or really bad!
Yet, still I do ponder why the hell is she dropping a new album, when all signs point to her being nowhere near capable of performing at world-class standar, not even a local talent show (I suppose she’ll be counting 1,2,3 untill she leaves the Music Industry). Britney seems to have a lot going on her plate right now and she hasn’t helped her “likeability” with everyone. Maybe working with Darkchild just maybe Britney reverting back to the more Urban-influenced/darker sound of her ‘Blackout’ (when Britney was on top of her game).
Darkchild has me quite eager to hear her new studio offerings. I’m just hoping she remembers how to dance come time of album release, as I doubt many will be cutting her any slack for sloppy performances this go-round. After all this is Britney Spears we are talking about, we should and must expect anything to happen (and i mean everything!). So Britney fans – i’ll see you in May 2010!.
