Nicki Minaj, continues to break records
Jan 31st

Not only is she topping the Billboard charts, but Nicki Minaj is proving to be a ratings powerhouse. The Harajuku Barbie helped “Saturday Night Live” earn its second highest ratingsof the season. Saturday’s episode, hosted by The Social Network star Jesse Eisenberg, averaged a 3.2 rating with adults 18-49 in 25 markets, dominating the time slot and tying with the September 25 season premiere starring Amy Poehler and Katy Perry. It trailed only the January 8 show hosted by Jim Carrey. Read the rest of this entry »
Jay Sean’s single fails to peak on any chart
Oct 6th
Jay Sean might as well be on the first plane back to the UK, with his much anticipated single featuring new Queen of Hip Hop Nicki Minaj, “2012” belly flopped on the billboard charts peaking at a very disappointing 43! – Ouch!
With a lot of money being poured into Jay Sean‘s new project, it’s pretty heart breaking to see a very commercial lead single just epically fail! One would think that with huge backing from huge music industry experts, why did albums under the Universal belt such as “All Or Nothing” only have a maximum of two lead singles and each needing a huge feature to push the record?
It does pain me to see Jay do so badly, but there is no doubt that his career here at home in the UK clearly had better results performance wise, with the US already branding him as a one-hit-wonder with “Down” and a decreasing fan base, I’m starting to think even if the new album “Freeze” will even shift?
However Jay’s ignorance I have little sympathy for the douche, on numerous occasions Jay Sean has slated fan base for not voting for him for awards and with the “Freeze” album expected to drop during November and very little album promo done…GOD HELP US ALL!!! Read the rest of this entry »
Nicki Minaj “Your Love”
Jul 21st
That’s right, the much awaited video to Nicki Minaj‘s single “Your Love” has dropped! Although “Your Love” was never intended to be released by the Young Money Group, however leaks on Youtube lead Nicki Minaj to garner her first solo #1 on the Billboard Rap 100 which made her the first solo female rapper to top the Rap Chart in 8 years!.
The video works well with the track, yet (dare I say it!) this is another recession friendly video – hey maybe that all the rage in the US at the moment! While seemingly low budget, the clip captured the essence of the song well without going the typical route that most Hip-Hop acts would have taken – clubs, stripper poles and money raining from the sky (no names need to be mentioned). Nicki Minaj looks remarkably “health” (and by that, maybe the budget was spend on making her face so god dam flawless!) in the video, and yes, she’s got a new set of weave!
“Your Love” has already climbed to #18 on the US Billboard hot 100, it’s release is expected in Europe this weekend titled “Your Love The EP”. Unlike “Massive Attack“, it’s nice to see Nicki Minaj do something toned down, however for many critics this video has confused them about what to expect from Nicki Minaj‘s album which is due to drop this November. Either way the track will do well, and at times the video does remind me of Beyonce’s “Check On It” – maybe they used the same silk sheets? Remember The MoMo Show is set to interview Nicki Minaj this August – so keep it locked for chances to win a meet and great with the first lady of Young Money! Read the rest of this entry »
Young Money Album Certified Gold
Mar 28th
Congratulations to the Young Money family who’s début group album went Platinum this week after it’s release in December 2009. I have also come to learn that since the departure of Jay Sean (bo-ho) We Are Young Money is the first collaboration studio album from Young Money Entertainment. It was released on December 21, 2009. Featured guests are recently-signed Young Money artist Short Dawg, Lloyd, Birdman, and Gucci Mane (i see…).
Although a little surprising, as many people expected this album not to do so well – come on now, who does a label family album? – was it a desperate cry for some more money to bail Lil’ Wayne out? The album debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200, selling 143,000 in its first week. The album was met with mixed reviews from critics and did well on the Billboard chart. The next week, the album dropped down three spots to #12, selling 42,000 copies. However after continuous airplays of the group single “BedRock” and huge circulation of other tracks off the LP, the album just about managed to certify Gold! – still platinum is a far cry away, but as they say…We Are Young Money.
