Kanye West drops “Good Ass Job” title

Kanye West no longer wants a “Good Ass Job“. After much speculation, the hip-hop star has revealed that he is cooking up a new album title.

West took to his new Twitter page (which he only just recently joined!) to answer the question his fans have been asking, what will he name his fifth album? “The album is no longer called Good Ass Job I’m bouncing a couple of titles around now,” he wrote.

He earlier announced that he would continue the college theme of his previous albums “The College Dropout“, “Late Registration“, and “Graduation“. “Good Ass Job” was to be the last installment in the series.

Kanye West’s fifth album is scheduled for a September 14 release, and with very little hype around Mr West himself it looks like this project could be on the verge of crashing to the ground. We got a chance to speak to an insider of the project who told us “Well, first of all, if you look at all of Kanye West’s output, he actually did a lot to bring back sampling and make it cool again, even though he’s more of a mainstream artist…but his new album is strictly hard beats and rhyme. He’s totally done with electro. You’re gonna be surprised what you hear.”

I’m still undecided about what exactly Kanye West’s sound is, with very little time push out the album and with the first single off the LP (this isn’t even the official lead) “Power“, there is no doubt that this project will get pushed back all the way to 2011. Read the rest of this entry »

Alicia Keys parts with manager?

After over a decade, Alicia Keys has ended her business relationship with longtime manager Jeff Robinson. Keys and Robinson released a joint statement on Friday (July 16) announcing their split. “Jeff Robinson, CEO of MBK Entertainment Inc., and 12-time Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys have decided to change the structure of their business relationship,” read the statement. “Robinson and Keys will continue to collaborate and produce future albums together through MBK/J Records while Alicia will now oversee all aspects of her own personal career.”

The decision was “mutually agreed upon and amicable.” Moving forward, Keys’ own company AK Worldwide will oversee ventures including touring and licensing to film, television, and new business development. “This decision will allow Alicia more control over all aspects of her career from singing and songwriting, to leading many business ventures and social causes,” continued the statement.

Robinson had been Keys trusted friend and manager since she was 14 years old. He is credited as executive producer on her last four studio albums. “I have known Alicia since she was 14. She has matured as an artist, going from a ‘wide-eyed and curious-about-the-world girl’ to a ‘wide-eyed and curious-about-the-universe woman,” Robinson told us magazine in 2007. “She continues to absorb knowledge like a sponge and I feel like a proud father watching his daughter grow into a take-charge woman.” Robinson’s company MBK Entertainment Inc. will focus on developing other acts including LeToya Luckett, Jermaine Paul, and Elle Varner. Kelly Rowland’s LP set to be more successful in Europe than Beyonce’s

With “Commander” in heavy circulation and climbing it’s way on the charts, no wonder a lot of people have got their eyes back on Kelly Rowland who seems to be having most her success here in Europe. Without a doubt the lead single off the album “Commander” is a strong one, without a doubt new management under universal’s Motown has really allowed to find her niche in the market. I’m sure we can all say that we are all Beyonce‘d out!

But, why has Kelly Rowland become such a huge star in Europe? Many factors including her work with David Guetta, but interesting facts emerged form sources saying that UMG can ensure that the LP (when’s it’s released) will hit more than 500,00o units within 2 weeks for release – meaning it will certify Gold in the opening weeks. That’s more than any Beyonce; who has always followed a gradual build of record sales. However notice some of the odd similarities with Kelly Rowland’s “Commander” and Beyonce’s “Sweet Dreams” – hm, I wonder what this is going to lead to?

I mean, it clear that Motown didn’t spend fortunes on “Commander” – and indeed classes as a recession friendly one! Kelly Rowland’s next single scheduled for release is titled “Grown Woman” and click over to check out the new promotional pictures and the potential album cover! Read the rest of this entry »

Swizz Beatz tells us about T.I. and his progression

Fresh off Drake’s album with “Fancy”, Swizz Beatz (pictured with his two kids) talks to us about how T.I.’s both film and album are coming along since they’ve been pushed back! Swizz said that T.I. is looking to out-do some of his past hits with the tracks on this forthcoming project titled “King Uncaged“.

The Hip-Hop producers and now Alicia Keys‘ new partner said “What we just did is bigger than those. It’s bigger than “Swing Ya Rag“, it’s bigger than all of those. We’re growing as artists. That’s one of the things I wanted to focus on with Tip, was: ‘We did that already. We don’t need to compete with nobody. You up there.’ Everything we gotta do, we gotta stay leaders. That’s how we got to where we at now.” – Needless to say many Swizz Beatz tracks do well on the Hip-Hop/Rap scene, only looking a few months back with Jadakiss‘ “Who’s Real” only demonstrates the talent that Swizz Beatz has.

He then went on to say “He gave me his OK on that. Gave me the clear lane. And we’re gone. Trust me on that. The first joint, it’s nice. Crazy! The second joint is taking the world over. It’s a positive message, and I’ll let him explain the rest of the story, because he would be glad to. It’s very musical, but still with that swag in it.” – T.I.’s “King Uncaged” and film “Takers” is scheduled for release this year. Read the rest of this entry »

Solange talks new album, new label and Beyonce

Single Ladies” sister Solange Knowles (aka Beyonce’s sister) finally lifted the lid on the recording process for her 3rd studio album (set for an October release), describing its sound as “80s R&B meets new wave dance-rock”. With little tension between the siblings could this be the spark that sets it all off?

Needless to say, Solange Knowles has failed to garnish any sort of award or praise for her music, after she is being constantly compare to on of the greatest entertainers of our time, Beyonce. Despite her constant effort to be less associated with her sister, it seems that the press have nothing else but that to ask of Solange Knowles.

She is bound to get it, after all Solange Knowles is one of the very few social networking active of the celebrities that are online. Solange Knowles, after leaving Columbia Records hard started to record her new album, she had to say about the Beyonce fans who think she’s trying draw attention to herself through her sister “I could really care less what a B fan, who fits a certain profile and only shops at a certain place and only goes to the spots that blogs tell her to go to, thinks. Those people have never driven me. I wouldn’t take back any of the things I did because I gained the people who I needed to have on my side. The people who don’t understand that don’t have the integrity that I want anyway. I felt really good that my songs were at the Best Of The Year lists. I get my love. It may not be what everyone else’s perception is, but I definitely get respect and I feel really good about that.”

(Hmm) – I mean, why all of a sudden has Solange Knowles decided to come into the public eye? Has she got her eyes set on a place for the Destiny Child reunion? I mean it all could happen very easily. As much as Solange Knowles‘ talent goes it managed to ship a few units, but her confidence for the new album definitely shows; she told us “Well, this new album is my baby. I would love for us to do a part two for this interview because there were so many elements and things that happened during the recording process. I’m talking physically, emotionally, and mentally…There was definitely a little bit of a breakdown involved. I literally gave up my sanity for a while to do this record. To the point to where I started doing it in Santa Barbara and I had to relocate to L.A. because I was losing it. We literally were waking up in the morning and just making music all day and all night. We left the house maybe three times! It just started to wear on me in so many different ways. I started having these crazy panic attacks.”

Of course, because everyone knows that “crazy panic attacks” are the end of your life as it is…who is Solange Knowles really trying to fool? I suppose she’s just going to have to admit it to herself one-day whether it be in LA or Santa Barbara. I smelly another lame R&B album…yawn! Read the rest of this entry »

Lady Gaga’s new album is complete!

Lady GaGa’s next studio album is complete. The entertainer revealed the news in the latest issue of Rolling Stones magazine and noted that the title of the LP, which hits stores early next year, will be revealed on New Year’s Eve. Check out what GaGa had to say.

Sources told us that there are very few details out there about what Gaga’s next album will sound like, but she say it’s already finished. She’s planning to announce the title of the album — due early next year — at midnight on New Year’s Eve. “I think I’m gonna get the album title tattooed on me and put out the photo,” she said. “I’ve been working on it for months now, and I feel very strongly that it’s finished right now. It came so quickly. Some artists take years; I don’t. I write music every day.”

It looks like Lady GaGa is going to continue her trend of making everything a dramatic affair. It’s certainly an ingenious move to capitalise on every opportunity to build hype for the next LP. Knowing Lady GaGa, she’ll probably announce the album title amidst a fireworks display, launched by cannon fire and 50 virgins singing in a chorus line at the strike of midnight; you know, because that’s how she do!

Keep it locked for more information on Lady GaGa’s next LP! We’ll post it up as we get it, keep it locked on MoMo. Read the rest of this entry »

Alicia Keys has unborn baby blessed

Yes! You herd right! Fresh from her performance at the World Cup opening ceremony, Alicia Keys got her unborn baby blessed in a traditional Zulu ceremony in South Africa. The couple were spotted after the “closed” ceremony was leaked out to the surrounding press. Both Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz looked very happy despite the huge and unexpected media turn out!

She was chosen to recieve the blessing after doing charity work for Bobbi Bear, which receives donations from the “Empire State Of Mind” singer. A spokesperson for the charity, which runs a weekly HIV clinic, told the Daily Mail: ”Alicia has been made part of the tribal family because she really reached out to the people here.” Sources went on to say ”‘Two female priests who practise a mix of Christianity and tribal customs chose new names for her and the unborn child, as a mark of respect. The names were kept between them, but were chosen to reflect Alicia’s character.”

I’m really happy that Alicia Keys has finally put everything on hold and has started to enjoy this time with her new to be husband Swizz Beatz, they are set to have their bundle of joy around December 2010! Not too long now! For more pictures of the ceremony scroll over here! Read the rest of this entry »

Rihanna’s new album expected to match MJ’s “Thriller”

Like I keep saying; some people love to run away with their imaginations and come out with craziness like this. So before Rihanna goes on to insult Michael Jackson let me just clear things up…it will never happen!

Island Def Jam A&R sources told us “Rihanna is coming along incredibly. I’m trying to push her to where every song will be a hit from 1 to 12. I’m talking about NO album fillers. Our bar for this album is Michael Jackson’s Thriller. We got smashes from Stargate, Ester Dean, Mel & Mus and Rock City. We’re definitely going in with Ne-YoThe-Dream and other writers and producers that have always been a part of her creative process since day one. She’s great to work with and very hands on with every song that’s being written and produced. She has visual concepts for just about every song. It’s already giving me the feel of a timeless album, and right now is her time” (hold on let me just compose myself…) What!? You know sometimes I do wonder what those people at Def Jam are smoking!?

This is no way that Rihanna is even ready (let alone have the ability) to push for an album matching something like Michael Jackson’s Thriller, legacy wise Rihanna is still miles away of becoming and artist like with the ability to create an album with that sort of legacy and success behind it. With “Rated R” only having 4 lead single for Rihanna; (a decline from the 7 from “Good Girl Gone Bad”); setting the bar too high could damage her career and confidence.

And (just bring out the facts here), “Good Girl Gone Bad” which shiped 1.6 million units of the album however in contract Rihanna’s latest effort “Rated R” only managed to ship 1.1 million units of the album! SO! with all this data I can conclude with the trend rate “RiRi” is going for; this new big LP won’t even be certified platinum; not to mention Rihanna has failed to sell-out any of her European shows and now she’s gone and died her hair red in effort to support the “R” in “Rated R”. You know Rihanna; I used to like you…I really did, but every time I hear about you or see about the more i’m pushing myself to take your music off my iPod and to endorsing your albums!  - but hey, only time will tell! Big Boi “Shutterbugg”

Let me introduce you to one of the hottest tracks for this summer! Big Boi (other half of rapping duo OutKast) has made his début under the Def Jam label. “Shutterbugg” although a huge move from the pop-rap of OutKast, Big Boi does well in the new single showing originality in the music video and the single itself. “Shutterbugg” will be the lead single off the album “Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty” (yes, that was a mouthful). Interestingly the new album (do I really need to repeat it!?…) “Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty” will be distributed through Def Jam and Purple Ribbon (the label which is owned by OutKast) – could this mean that OutKast are not totally finished!

In regards to the music Big Boi – this has to be given five stars! Even more so this music video has kinda got my excited about the album; confirmation came today that Big Boi’s album will include work and collaborations from T.I., Jamie Foxx, Gucci Mane, B.o.B, Andre 3000 and Mary J Blige. “Shutterbugg” is currently climbing up both the billboard hot 100 and R&B charts. “Shutterbugg” is also expected to be released officially in the UK in the coming week. The Big Boi is currently in heavy circulation on tv and radio. Read the rest of this entry »

T.I. pushed out “I’m Back”

In many respects this video reminds of T.I.’s “What You Know About That“, and although a little dark this video serves justice to the track which is a mid-tempo street rap track. With that said, I do not think this will be the single that would make people to want to the buy T.I.’s forthcoming album “King Uncaged“; yeah, I do understand that this will not make a lot of radio airplay, but still a rap track will always be a rap track and if T.I wants to keep up with his northern rivals who seems to making more radio friendly tracks i very much doubt “I’m Back” will be making much circulation.

I know previously I’ve slatted commercial pushed rappers; but for the sake of  T.I.’s current position he got a lot to live up to (some people have simply forgot about him). With continuous disputes with Grand Hustle’s mother Warner Brother Music; the album “King Uncaged” has been given a official release date of August 17 2010, but do expect for this album’s date to be pushed back! I was excited for this T.I project – with no official track listing available who knows what the commercial first single of  King Uncaged” will be!? Let’s just hope he lives up to his singles such as “What You Know About That“, “Whatever You Like” and “Live Your Life“. Keep it locked on MoMo for more information about T.I.’s “King Uncaged“.
