Ne-Yo’s album gets pushed back…yet again!

Ne-Yo will have to wait to tell his story. The R&B crooner’s storybook-themed album “Libra Scale” has been pushed back a couple weeks.

The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter’s fourth studio effort will now arrive at retailers on October 19, a day after his 31st birthday, The MoMo Show has learned. It was previously scheduled to drop two weeks earlier on October 5th 2010.

The sci-fi-influenced album was inspired by Ne-Yo’s passion for acting. “The songs on the album are all songs inspired by this story I wrote,” he told us, “Libra Scale is a question of morality. Weighed out on a libra scale, if you had to choose between money, power, fame, or love, which one would you put the most value on? Which one would prevail in your life?”

The father-to-be is riding on the current success of his dance single “Beautiful Monster,” which hit No. 1 in the U.K. His follow-up single, the inspirational “One Life,” surfaced last week. Ne-Yo is set to follow-up the chart-topping success of “Beautiful Monster“, with “One Life” later on next month

Though a competent enough effort, the song sounds like it’d be at home on Ne-Yo’s earlier albums. At this point, releasing a single with a little more ‘kick’ wouldn’t go amiss. Still, the Stargate produced cut is radio friendly enough (which seems to be the aim of the game with most of Shaffer’s releases), hence should be a hit. – Well…it better be! Nicki Minaj finally gets a solo #1!

Up and coming female rapper Nicki Minaj finally got her number one single spot with risky single “Your Love“. The song hit the Billboard Rap Chart topspot this week after it leaked online earlier this year – but then why wasn’t it pushed by Cash Money Records?

With yet an official album to be released Nicki Minaj spoke about her first #1! “I was not planning on putting the song out at all,” she said. “But then I heard it one day, somebody told me it was online…And I was like, ‘No way, no way in the world that song is out.’ I went and listened to it and was really upset. It wasn’t mixed, it wasn’t finished, it wasn’t anything — I wasn’t gonna use it at all. But then radio started playing it.”. I’m glad that Nicki Minaj is playing it cool and not getting too happy, after all she didn’t chart on the Billboard hot 100!

Maybe the reason why the track “Your Love” became more popular is that the single follows and old school rap set up, something that a lot of rappers don’t tend to follow these days. I mean good for Nicki Minaj! It’s defiantly a radio friendly track from the suggested list.

The Lil Wayne protégé told us tha t the team was pretty much forced to release the single. She went on to tell us “Isn’t that crazy? Crazy. I don’t even know how it feels [to have a #1 hit] right now. But it’s amazing”. Nicki Minaj is currently working on her album which is set for release at the end of 2010. Read the rest of this entry »
