J.Cole being ignored by Roc Nation?

Let’s just get the record the straight here, I can simply tell with the lack of press releases coming out about J.Cole that there is something not right at Roc Nation HQ! When you’re signed to Roc Nation, Jay-Z may only be a phone call away, but J. Cole is not ready to make that call just yet. The Roc Nation rapper is still looking for the perfect record for his boss to jump on. – or so they say!

While they’ve worked together on “A Star Is Born” from Jay’s Blueprint 3 album, Cole has yet to find the right collaboration for his debut. “I haven’t found the song that we wanna do yet, but there was one that almost happened, that he was about to write to,” he tells us. “I didn’t even write to it. I just gave him the beat like, ‘Yo, I think you would sound good on this.’ I’m glad nothing really happened because a few months later I realized that’s not the one.” There have been other contenders, including one on his newest mixtape Friday Night Lights. “There was this one record we were gonna do. Even the song ‘Enchanted’ off the mixtape, that’s a song that when I first did it, I heard Jay-Z. I’m thinkin’ like, ‘Man, is this gonna be the song?’” he says. “But I’m really particular and picky, just by the way I move and handle my announcements and everything. I’m really calculated.”

Let’s just hope J.Cole is given his time to shine, I mean just adding him on a Drake tour wont expose him the record sales he’ll need… I smell a Rihanna collaboration (don’t ask me why…I just do!) (more…)

A big week for Hip-Hop!

Hip-hop looks to dominate next week’s Billboard charts. After a week filled with high-profile releases, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj are on track to outsell the competition and take the top two spots. According to sources, which forecasts album sales, Kanye West’s highly-acclaimed fifth album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is expected to sell 525-575,000 copies in its first week in stores, coming in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Meanwhile, ‘Ye’s collaborator Nicki Minaj will have a “Monster” opening week herself with 375-400,000 copies of her debut Pink Friday. Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill currently holds the title for most albums sold by a female MC in one week with 422,000 when it debuted in 1998.

Elsewhere on the charts, Rihanna’s Loud is benefiting from Thanksgiving week sales in its second week with 140-160,000, with her labelmate Justin Bieber’s My Worlds Acoustic on par with those numbers. Despite delays and an early leak, Ne-Yo’s fourth LP Libra Scale could dance away with 120-140,000, putting it in the top 10. These figures could see a boost due to the busy Black Friday shopping weekend. Jay-Z’s “Decoded” placed on the New York Times best-seller list!

Jay-Z has topped the Billboard charts and Forbes list of wealthiest musicians, and now he finds himself atop a new chart. The rapper-turned-author’s first book Decoded has landed on The New York Times Best Sellers list. And how can we forget the compilation album being released by previous label Def Jam sitting around #6 on the album charts.

Sean Carter’s memoir Decoded debuts at No. 3 on the Hardcover Nonfiction edition of The New York Times Best Sellers list for the week of December 5. The top two spots are occupied by former President George W. Bush’s autobiography Decision Points and Laura Hillenbrand’s Unbroken.

The book, which provides insight into Jay-Z’s lyrics and life, has seen brisk sales since its release earlier this month. It was included on Oprah’s coveted “Favorite Things” show and is currently in the top 10 sellers on Amazon.com.

Entertainment Weekly gave Decoded an A-, calling it “Shawn Carter’s most honest airing of the experiences he drew on to create the mythic figure of Jay-Z,” while The New York Timessays “Decoded gives the reader a harrowing portrait of the rough worlds Jay-Z navigated in his youth, while at the same time deconstructing his lyrics.” – As part of TheMoMoShow.com’s 10,000th tweet give away you could win a copy of the hard back! J. Cole’s début album will be ready for spring…

Now that J. Cole has given fans the appetizer with his latest mixtape Friday Night Lights, he’s focusing his attention on the main course. The “Who Dat” rapper shares a few more details about his highly-anticipated debut.

“The album could be done. If I needed to put it out next week, I would be able to,” the Roc Nation signee tells us. “My expectations were already super high and I think the fans’ were too, but now that the mixtape is out and the response is what it is, I kinda want to go back in and do a few more songs that are that much better, just to boost the level of the album.”

He is now eyeing a spring drop date for the project. “I think we’re looking at a March release date or something around there with the single coming in a couple weeks.”

While he wouldn’t reveal the song’s title, he did hint at a guest appearance. “As of right now, it has a feature,” he says of the undisclosed tune, adding, “I think it’s what a lot people been waiting on.” And despite Cole World being thrown around, he has not announced an official title. “I never announced that as the name of the album, but it’s a sick title. I did think about that as a possibility, but as of right now, that’s not the title,” (more…)

Rihanna will release “Who’s That Chick”!

A curly-haired Rihanna floated above the audience during her opening performance at this year’s American Music Awards. The Bajan babe kicked off her medley with a snippet from her sequel to “Love the Way You Lie” before jumping off of her perch to sing her hit “What’s My Name?” Joined by backup dancers, the crimson-coiffed chanteuse switched her hips to the pop jam, taking it to the dance floor by closing the performance with “Only Girl (In the World).”

Nicki Minaj, along with Taio Cruz and Trey Songz, presented the American Music Award for Favorite Soul/R&B Female Artist to her friend Rihanna, who got a little touchy feely with the blonde Barbie.

“Don’t we all wish we could have green hair and make it look good like Nicki?” laughed RiRi before slapping her “Raining Men” collaborator on her famous ass. And TheMoMoShow.com are pleased to announce that “Who’s That Chick” produced by David Guetta is now available for download at iTunes and Amazon!

The decision was made between Island Def Jam and Roc Nation for a European release only. The new single will be released for radio on 28th November! So make sure you pre-order your copy…we’ve been waiting for this! (more…)

Kanye West “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” has just begun

I mean, I’m not going to lie to you, but if you have not grabbed a copy of “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” GET IT NOW! This is truly one of Kanye West‘s greatest pieces of work without a doubt.

Kanye West didn’t make any promotional appearances or even tweet on his album release day. That’s because he spent part of his day rehearsing for the 84th Annual Macy’s Thanks giving Day Parade in front of Macy’s Herald Square in New York City, where he will perform along with Keri Hilson and The Roots on Thursday. Kanye’s new album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy has been receiving rave reviews from critics across the board.

After weeks of G.O.O.D. Friday giveaways and Twitter ramblings, Kanye West finally shares his Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy with the world. The rapper’s controversial remarks and behavior made headlines over the past year, but Mr. West lets his music do the talking on his fifth album – and I do mean that.

There are just timeless tracks off this record my personal picks are “All of The Lights” and “Devil In A Red Dress” – amazing records and this time (unlike the last one!) the album flowed really well and just seemed finished and ready of a high quality! (more…)

Keri Hilson does the “Pretty Girl Rock”

Keri Hilson has released a new video for her track “Pretty Girl Rock,” the first single from her upcoming album No Boys Allowed. The video was directed by Joseph Kahn (Janet Jackson, Black Eyed Peas), and features Hilson portraying an array of historic black women. She takes on the roles of Josephine Baker, Dorothy Dandridge, Diana Ross as a member of the Supremes, Janet Jackson, and T-Boz of TLC.

Hilson also made headlines this week with the release of her new single “The Way You Love Me” featuring Rick Ross. The Polow Da Don-produced track follows “Breaking Point,” which was released in September. No Boys Allowed is slated for a December 21 release.

Hilson will support the new album with an appearance at the upcoming 84th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. The event will air live on NBC starting at 9 AM on Thanksgiving Day. Kanye West, the Roots and India.Arie are also scheduled to perform. I mean this album going to be a winner and really fitting for Keri’s voice! Well done! cannot wait to hear the whole album!

Beyonce and Jay Z at the Jay Electronica party

Jay-Z welcomed the newest addition to the Roc Nation family, Jay Electronica, at New York City’s The Box on Friday night. Beyoncé got down to the sounds of the much-buzzed-about rapper, as her husband threw up the diamond in the balcony. Other industry heavyweights experienced “The Turn” as the Roc Nation boss made the news official at the magical event.

Jay-Z has one (final) word (for now) on wife Beyoncé’s possible pregnancy: No.

“I really sit back and wonder when people are going to stop,” he said on Howard Stern’s radio show Monday, when asked about the rumors by the show’s co-host Robin Quivers. “The day that happens, I don’t think Newsday is going to know before my grandmother.”

The rapper, who is notorious for keeping mum on his personal life, added, “Everyone knows I’m married, I just don’t discuss it because it’s a part of my life that I’d rather keep private.” – Of course Jay! There are also rumours of Beyonce moving to Roc Nation also! (more…)

Mariah Carey back at #1 with “Oh Santa!”

Mariah Carey has another reason to celebrate other than her pregnancy. The diva’s new Christmas album, ”Merry Christmas II You“, is set to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 150,000  units sold, giving her her 16th top 10 debut on the tally. And that’s right “Oh Santa!” worked it’s way up to #1! I guess this proves to everyone Mariah Carey is back on top of her game. The video is surely a more age embracing look for Mariah and work really well! But in true Mariah Carey she had to squeeze in her own endorsement! (you never let us down do you MiMi!).

Only Barbra Streisand and Madonna have more top 10 premieres with 30 and 19 entries respectively. Carey’s first Holiday album, ”Merry Christmas“, was released in 1994 and entered the chart #30 with 45k copies in sales. ‘Merry Christmas II You’ has the distinction of having one of the highest debut rankings of any seasonal album of the last 10 years.

Another notable entry this week is N.E.R.D’s Nothing LP which comes in at #24 with 18,559 units sold. However, there is no stopping Taylor Swift’s Speak Now which managed to remain in the #1 spot with an impressive 327,493 copies sold in its second week on the charts. These numbers and placements may change when the official Billboard 200 chart is tallied later this week. – And when the album is released to the rest of the world next week “Merry Christmas II You” is expected to have increasing sales right up until the festive season really begins! (That’s not during November!) (more…)

Rihanna to shift platinum in first week of sales!

Let me just sit down for a moment! Yes Island Def Jam were kind enough to send me some tracks – if you haven’t pre-ordered”Loud” you need to do it now! I can easily predict that Rihanna’s final album from Island Def Jam will got Platinum within the opening week after a little research we did!

The production on this LP sounds amazing (as is expected from the world class team of producers commissioned by her label) but as usual her voice sounds atrocious. It is amazing that after 5 albums and multiple tours Rihanna has yet to learn how to maxmise her potential as a vocalist.

Furthermore, with the exception of the occasional insertion of West Indian twang, there is nothing on this record to be as unique as she claimed. In fact, I am sure that Lady GaGa could have performed all of these records just about matching the talent. Rihanna basically applied the noise erupting from her throat to a series of well-crafted beats, added a bit of creole language and expected this album to be in a lane by itself. – but that is hot!

It will be interesting to see how this album performs. Rihanna is releasing this project in a time when both Taylor Swift and Susan Boyle have records on the market and, as her fans conveniently forget to point out, Rihanna never got a #1 album. It looks like history is about to be changed! (more…)
