Yes that’s right, Drake finally dropped another video from his amazing album “Thank Me Later“, although not one that we would of all exptected, “Miss Me” featuring Lil Wayne which debuted at #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 was directed by Anthony Mandler. – But hey we are not complaining! The video is pretty following the story of a dark even with Drake and Lil Wayne rapping in some field in the middle of some hill-billy state – yes, another low budget video (sigh). Maybe this has got to do with this whole “welcome back” concert for Lil Wayne? most likely I cannot find any other reason why Motown would decide to put this okay-ish track out after a great lead of singles!
This was a good video. However, I wonder why this track was chosen as the new single instead of ”Up All Night“, “Shut It Down” or the much awaited “Fancy“. Certainly Drake wanted to release a single featuring his mentor but the Minaj collaboration is a much stronger song never the less with growing hype for T.I that would of mixed well too – and the The-Dream track is a genuine great record!. Besides, with the hype surrounding Drake, Minaj and T.I. (not so for The-Dream) at the moment, it would have proven to be a guaranteed smash. O well. Life goes on. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s Gucci time! Gooch linked up with Swizz Beatz to shoot the explosive new video for “Gucci Time,” with director extraordinaire Chris Robinson behind the camera. The video, shot on location in Los Angeles, will be released in the near future in anticipation of his forthcoming album “The Appeal“: Georgia’s Most Wanted, slated to hit stores in late 2010.
Now, the rapper has finally wrapped his follow-up album and said that this is his best chance to capitalize on his underground allure. “The Appeal is officially finished. It’s mixed and mastered, and the artwork is done,” he told The MoMo Show from the set of one of his upcoming videos (he’s currently filming two at the same time). “I’m just out here promoting it and letting everyone know it’s coming. Just bring awareness to it ’cause I want everyone to know it’s coming and to support it because it’s a masterpiece.”
“Biggest mixtape of the summer, by far,” Gucci said about his tape, an ode to the neighborhood in Atlanta where he grew up. “When y’all get it, guarantee I win Mixtape of the Year.” – now don’t get too ahead of yourself Gucci!

Ne-Yo will have to wait to tell his story. The R&B crooner’s storybook-themed album “Libra Scale” has been pushed back a couple weeks.
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter’s fourth studio effort will now arrive at retailers on October 19, a day after his 31st birthday, The MoMo Show has learned. It was previously scheduled to drop two weeks earlier on October 5th 2010.
The sci-fi-influenced album was inspired by Ne-Yo’s passion for acting. “The songs on the album are all songs inspired by this story I wrote,” he told us, “Libra Scale is a question of morality. Weighed out on a libra scale, if you had to choose between money, power, fame, or love, which one would you put the most value on? Which one would prevail in your life?”
The father-to-be is riding on the current success of his dance single “Beautiful Monster,” which hit No. 1 in the U.K. His follow-up single, the inspirational “One Life,” surfaced last week. Ne-Yo is set to follow-up the chart-topping success of “Beautiful Monster“, with “One Life” later on next month
Though a competent enough effort, the song sounds like it’d be at home on Ne-Yo’s earlier albums. At this point, releasing a single with a little more ‘kick’ wouldn’t go amiss. Still, the Stargate produced cut is radio friendly enough (which seems to be the aim of the game with most of Shaffer’s releases), hence should be a hit. – Well…it better be! “Impossible” was created because Shontelle felt there were no ballads in the charts at the time. ”I knew that there was no song out there for heartbroken people. I just wanted to put a song out that gave people hope – things may not work out the way you want them to, but you can move past it and everything is gonna be okay.” Shontelle also spoke of how the song showed her vulnerable side, that it’s okay to be embarrassed by a lover and move on from it. She said she wanted the song to connect with listeners who had been through a similar situation and help them draw the strength to carry on past a break up where you’re the one in the embarrassing position.
Despite the song being almost a few months old now, “Impossible” has re-entered charts – and with this pop ballad originally written for JoJo, this song was handed to Shontelle; who then changed it and made it her own. In a nut shell this was yet another budget video! The video is a reflection of the past. During the first chorus, Shontelle is talking to her boyfriend and they start caressing. In the second chorus, Shontelle and her boyfriend are arguing while Shontelle is also shown writing a song and scribbling off words. Later, her boyfriend is having a beer at a party. He is celebrating his platinum success. Afterwards, Shontelle receives a letter from a recording studio. Later, she is putting away glasses and bottles. At the end, a reflection is shown in black and white. The final scene is kissing her boyfriend on the head, and then goes back to the present, where Shontelle is getting into a taxi. – Without a doubt, it’s a beautiful record! After finally ditching Preeya Kalidas to “Shimmy” by herself the doors have been left wide open for Mumzy Stranger. East London singer and rapper is finally ready to release some new work since the early projects of his career from almost a year ago. Despite just coming off a record which almost fell into the minus off the charts (Preeya Kalidas “Shimmy“), there is already hype circulating industry floors building up the heat of his next single release titled “Fly With Me“.
Impossible to box in a specific genre, “Fly With Me“ draws influences from dance music combined with smooth R&B vocals and a distinct dancehall flavour – Co-written and co-produced with renowned producer and long time mentor, Rishi Rich, Mumzy Stranger has been making a name for himself on the urban and Asian underground scene over the last few years. Mumzy started out on East London’s grime scene battling with other MCs before discovering the Asian club scene when he started University. Combing the two genres with his love of dancehall music, Mumzy Stranger started becoming one of the key figures on the Asian music scene.
Already playing to crowds of 60,000 people (something which some “main-stream” artists fail to do – no names, but just though I’d drop Rihanna in this one!) Mumzy Stranger will be finishing his debut album which will be released in 2011. As you can expect from an artist who mixes sounds and styles, he is determined not to be pigeonholed. He told us “I’m not an Asian doing R&B music. I’m a soulful, R&B, bashment artist who happens to be Asian. I don’t need to be put under any category.” – There are currently several versions of ”Fly With Me” circulating, however a mastered is yet to be released! Read the rest of this entry »

Rihanna partied like a rock star following her first headlining concert at NYC’s Madison Square Garden on Thursday (Aug. 12). RiRi’s newest tattoo was on full display as she headed to the after-party at Greenhouse with celebs like Jadakiss and Carmelo Anthony. Her 15th tat inscribed on her neck reads “Rebelle Fleur,” which translates to Rebel Flower. Kanye West was in the house at his labelmate’s “Last Girl on Earth” tour, later saying that he got emotional after watching her take the stage. Rihanna toured with West on his “Glow in the Dark” trek.
“So I went to Rihanna’s concert tonight and when I saw her do ‘I’m so hard, eh eh eh,’ I’m not gonna lie to ya’ll, I might of actually started crying—just to see my little sisteronstage with her production and her outfit and her song and rocking Madison Square Garden at her own show sold out,” he told the crowd at his secret show. “It was a very emotional moment for me and I’m just so proud of her.” – aw how sweet!
I mean there is no doubt that Rihanna gets loads of love from her record label home-town, but even more so maybe finally Rihanna has just managed to detach herself from her haters maybe? – I mean when was the last time we herd someone praising Rihanna on her LIVE performance? Rihanna’s new album is expected late this year and is being claimed to be her best project yet!
But what seems to be on everyone’s mind is all about RiRi’s new tattoo! (I personally don’t see the hype!). According to some sources the tatto’s wording seems to be wrong! the experts believe that if ‘rebelle fleur’ is used in a sentence, then the words should be the other way around as ‘fleur rebelle.’ However, if Rihanna’s tattoo artist has made a mistake, it will be easy to rectify because reports have suggested that the ink is only temporary, until the “Umbrella“ singer decides whether to get it done for real. You know, I’m not usually a huge fan of Eminem (for personal reasons) nor am I a fan of Rihanna (for obvious reasons) – but without a bout this track really showcased the substance of both of these artists. Although an unsafe partnering of these two, I must of been hard to imagine how people where going to react to “Love The Way You Lie“. Never the less the track is now working it’s way onto every chart across the globe and stacking up the youtube visits. “Love The Way You Lie” is a rap ballad, written originally for Ashanti to take the lead female vocals.
Rihanna was approached because Eminem convinced the producer of the track that (for some odd reason) that RiRi’s voice would fit. An insider close to the UK producer “Alex da Kid” told us he said “They reached out to us directly and they just said, ‘We have this song and we just think Rihanna would be perfect to sing it.’ And, of course, I was like, ‘OK, if I love it, I’ll definitely do it, because I love Eminem.’ And I love the song. It’s really beautiful, and it really stands out. It’s a really unique record. I’m really excited about it.” . I have to admit that “Love The Way You Lie” must of been hard on Rihanna, when you listen to those lyrics it in a way reflects her past year…maybe something to think about? The track does warn many people of the cycle of abuse, is that why Eminem invited Rihanna on the track? Read the rest of this entry »

Yes, photographed Hip-Hop heavyweights Kanye West and Jay-Z catching up over dinner at Italian restaurant Nello’s in New York. For obvious reasons, we have no idea what the two disused at dinner, but with growing drama around Kanye West album this could of been the right time for mentor Jay-Z maybe to have a few moment of support. In addition with Jay-Z’s compilation album drawing closer and closer to release maybe it was time for both the have a little catch up (aww…how cute). Needless to say there is something a bit too fishy about this all this.
Jay-Z’s compilation album is set for release around December 2010, with no confirmation of the progress in development of the project you can pretty much expect nothing more than a Greatest Hits LP - multiplied by three! And as for Kanye West’s album…well that project seems to be all over the place. Either way keep it locked for more info! Notice how Kanye West is more shocked about the photographer than Jay-Z, who is just stuffing his face. Read the rest of this entry »

It was just a regular day at the offices of Rolling Stoneuntil Kanye West stopped by for an impromptu performance and album listening.
After his trips to Facebook and Twitter earlier in the week, Kanye treated the magazine’s staffers to nearly a dozen new tracks plus snippets of unfinished material from his fifth album. Mr. West, clad in a charcoal gray suit, rapped on top of a boardroom table and fielded questions from the audience (he’d like to work with Lauryn Hill and Thom Yorke).
The new Twitter addict described the tone of his as-yet-untitled record as positive. “I feel like [now] I can be a vessel for good will and energy,” he said, while admitting that he’s made mistakes in the past. RS called the material “some of Kanye’s most adventurous and experimental music yet” featuring heavy beats, sparse piano lines, electric guitar solos, and sci-fi melodies.
“People fall short of the greatness of rock ‘n’ roll,” Yeezy told the crowd. “They’re all scared. Everybody’s fu**ing pu**y. And all the people that could be real rock stars get scared and just run away from popular culture. It takes so much for me and Eminem to come back and embrace [it] and say, ‘You know what? We have to deliver this on a major level to make a difference.’”
During a series of drunken tweets, Kanye revealed that the album will feature production from Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA. Nicki Minaj is also set to make an appearance on the September 14 release, as MoMo previously reported.
Between you and me…I sense a mental break down! Just kidding! But who knows, after all this isn’t the first time that Kanye West has had the sudden urge to express his voice. Read the rest of this entry »
