Kelly Rowland has decided to come clean about the real reason for her departure from Columbia Records. The singer has admitted that, despite a press release noting a mutual split, she was in fact dropped from the label. Check out what Rowland had to say about the situation as well as her “civilized” relationship with Beyonce. Although having huge success with her new single “Commander” under Universal Motown she spoke to us about the true reasons behind her movement and why she wants this album to do so well. Sources told us despite constant rumors pitting them against one another, the “Grown Woman” says she and Beyoncé have remained friends. “We were always civilized…That’s what I’m most proud of. From the rumors to the lawsuits to false accusations, it was really tough.”

Even when legal issues arose with former members LeToya and LaTavia, the two stayed close. “We were strong because we had each other,” she tells the magazine. “There were times when I couldn’t even be strong enough, so I had B. She was the only thing I knew. She was my only friend.” As for the Destiny’s Child reunion that her former manager Mathew Knowles shut down, Kelly says she would be open to it “if the fans wanted it to happen.” Rowland also admits in the article that her former label Columbia Records dropped her and it was not a mutual split as the press release stated. “In all honesty, they let me go. The records that I put out probably didn’t perform as well as maybe they wanted them to,” she reveals. “We live in an industry where you’ve got to bring in money. Amen and thank the Lord! Someone finally re-branded this guy! So Jay Sean and Nicki Minaj‘s single titled “2012″ (bring on the Olympic endorsement!) leaked onto the net. Even though these past months my liking to Jay Sean has fallen and this whole commercial movement this artist is following is effecting his fan base, this single had something special about it.

Okay, so let not get carried away with it - I’m not in love with it but it’s a good tune. The Jay Sean single was build on the sample of “Do You Remember” (typical) and is scheduled for release at the begging of August. No doubt bosses at the Universal group in the states are worried about Jay Sean‘s career, as one official source quoted “he may lose touch with fan’s if he’s pushed out too fast”. With his single “Down” breaking so many records, his follow-up album “All Or Nothing” failed to garnish anything alike.

However I’m sure there is a huge marketing plan for this record, with Nicki Minaj only weeks away from her official UK and Europe release. Almost every record as a similar melody and beat; showing little artistic growth or variation. All that can be said about this song is that Jay Sean needs to double what ever he paid Nicki Minaj because she is the only reason that this song is even somewhat interesting.

Apart from weed that is! In recent events it seems that Kid Cudi always seems to be running into some sort of trouble which closes the doors for many much needed opportunities. ”Day and Night” singler uber-cool rapper Kid Cudi has reportedly addressed his recent arrest in New York on drug and destruction charges. Cudi explained that he doesn’t use any form of drugs apart from marijuana, after he was accused of kicking down a women’s door to to get at some liquid cocaine.

He said at a recent public appearance in Brooklyn: “I know you guys were hearing some s**t about me in the news. I was wilding out and s**t, but I’m good now. I just smoke weed. I know n***as die when they 27. I’m 26 now, but I promise I’ll live til I’m old as s**t.”

Kid Cudi has recently updated his fans on the status of his upcoming album “Man On The Moon 2″.Cudi posted a statement on his blog claiming that a release is most likely to take place late this summer.

He wrote: “Thanx for all the love on the new joint yall. I really appreciate it sincerely. This was a idea I had that me and Chip decided to do for fun.”As of right now it’s not on anything, we just recorded it and put it out just for the f*ck of it. It’ll be awhile til MOTM2 (still gunnin’ for Aug release or Sept), so I might keep releasing some fun joints here and there. I’ll keep you all posted faaashow.” (more…)

“I think the last time I was listening to dubstep it was Chase & Status.” Pharrell Williams said when he and N.E.R.D. member Shay Hayley were asked about the UK’s music scene.  When asked if there would be anyone in particular that Pharrell Williams would like to work with in the UK, he said that it would take him a while to figure out whom because the UK music scene is doing so great right now.

Needless to say, the new movement of R&B, House, Indie and a fusion movement of music from the UK has caused huge fuss over in the states, with R&B at an all time love the market is now looking for something so different that no one will have any idea where it came from. Examples of success like that are Little Boots who’s sales in the US stormed at a him with her track “New In Town“.

N.E.R.D. who are working on their new album “Nothing” and is set for release this September went on to say “It would take me a minute to come up with a good list because there are so many people over here, there’s loads and loads of talent here. I mean, here’s the good news, the world is changing and so when the world changes, so does art, you know?” they then continued to say about their music “There’s just new music coming and we’re just as excited about what you guys have coming out over here as well.”. Some people sure know how to turn their fans into haters! And The-Dream is just too good at that! Reports came in that The-Dream, who is currently trying to push failing project “Love King“ - did indeed divorce Christina Milian 9 days before she have birth! – Outch.

Needless to say while his album continues to struggle on the charts, The-Dream surely did take a further stride on the route of “Epic Fail” – the very fact that this was just so secret has really questioned the personality of The-Dream! Recently he stated that “no one appreciates” his work hence his departure from the recording industry and that in general this guy not right in the head!

The ”Single Ladies“ writer (irony?) had supposedly filed for divorce a mere 9 days before Christina Milian gave birth, however then continued to pretend that they we still married to ensure the album promotion scheme went on plan until it’s release.

Thus, without fail the Christina Milian fans came in their thousands then targeted The-Dream which resulted him to closing his twitter account - aw, could some not hack it? There is nothing much left for me to say apart from that The-Dream has a wack album out with no good singles, he’s going to be kicked off the Island Def Jam label anyways! (more…)

R&B singer Alicia Keys, who is currently five months pregnant with her first child by her fiancé and music producer Swizz Beatz, is apparently loving everything about being pregnant.

The 29-year-old hit-maker said that she needs to be peaceful and happy during her pregnancy and that impending  motherhood has changed her.

Alicia Keys told us “Oh, I love children and I love family and I love that interaction. Because I had a really close relationship with my mother I understand that deep powerful love, and it’s so beautiful. To be a mother to a child is the most brilliant gift, it’s gorgeous.”. I’m sure this is all an exciting moment for Alicia Keys, however the “No One” singer seems to be making slightly more public appearances now from when she was promoting her “Element of Freedom” album? Is someone trying to cover-up all the drama that’s gone on with their management?, I think so!

Alicia Keys then went on to say “I’m definitely in a place where I have a different sensibility about things. I remember how I used to be, ‘I’m going on the road and I’m

That’s right, the much awaited video to Nicki Minaj‘s single “Your Love” has dropped! Although “Your Love” was never intended to be released by the Young Money Group, however leaks on Youtube lead Nicki Minaj to garner her first solo #1 on the Billboard Rap 100 which made her the first solo female rapper to top the Rap Chart in 8 years!.

The video works well with the track, yet (dare I say it!) this is another recession friendly video – hey maybe that all the rage in the US at the moment! While seemingly low budget, the clip captured the essence of the song well without going the typical route that most Hip-Hop acts would have taken – clubs, stripper poles and money raining from the sky (no names need to be mentioned). Nicki Minaj looks remarkably “health” (and by that, maybe the budget was spend on making her face so god dam flawless!) in the video, and yes, she’s got a new set of weave!

“Your Love” has already climbed to #18 on the US Billboard hot 100, it’s release is expected in Europe this weekend titled “Your Love The EP”. Unlike “Massive Attack“, it’s nice to see Nicki Minaj do something toned down, however for many critics this video has confused them about what to expect from Nicki Minaj‘s album which is due to drop this November. Either way the track will do well, and at times the video does remind me of Beyonce’s “Check On It” – maybe they used the same silk sheets?
