T.I. shreds apart his new track “Yeah Ya Know (Takers)” Much like his buzz single “I’m Back,” the DJ Toomp and Smash Factory production features an edgier rock sound that will prevail on T.I‘s forthcoming album ”King Uncaged” (set to drop on August 17th 2010). Judging from its title, the song will also be included on the soundtrack to his action-packed film Takers.
It’s pretty much set in stone that T.I is stepping away from his commercial rap hits of 2008 but know going back to his routes of pure hardcore rap. With T.I being one of few of his kind it’s important for him not to forget his rap fans after the success of tunes such as “Live Your Life” and “Whatever You Like“. According to Grand Hustle will be shooting this video will be a mix of footage from his film and other footage which is currently being shot across many locations in the states.
T.I cleverly avoiding a album battle with Drake; he said that there are still many things that need to be done with the album. With yet no official track list or artwork I for one would not be surprised if this album gets delayed by Warner Bros. With that aside this track is one that may not make it to airplay on mainstream stations but definitely will hang around for the summer. In other news T.I reportedly said he had to do 1500 hours behind bars; which could be the drive behind this album and thus resulting into a more edgier sound. Simon Cowell has reportedly issued a warning to Cheryl Cole urging her to cut down her workload in order to give her full attention to the X Factor; is what sources told us today. It was claimed that Simon told Cheryl Cole that she needed to focus her attention more of X Factor rather than her solo career (eek!? oh no he didn’t!). “Fight For This Love” singer is currently on tour with lover Will.i.am and the Black Eyed Peas as their opening act.
Simon accused Cheryl Cole of “not being committed to the new series 100%”. Close sources told us that “Simon is supportive of Cheryl. But he feels she needs to stop gallivanting around Europe and start getting focused on The X Factor’s return.” (gallivanting”…now that is just rude!). Although at times I do see a point, it was the X Factor that made Cheryl’s popularity increased which as a result lead to her success. Cheryl Cole has been reportedly been signing up to various endorsements and music festivals which could lead to Cheryl Cole being pretty exhausted by the time X Factor comes around.
Sources told us “Simon is worried she’s been doing too much. He wants her to take some time out and get her head in the right place for what will be an incredibly demanding new series. She is determined to work as hard as she can. That’s how she has dealt with her problems with Ashley. Simon has told Cheryl she is the star of the show and that she needs to get back in the zone, and fast.” So pretty much they need their Cheryl back or X Factor will not be the same (or will it?). The much awaited second single from Drake‘s forthcoming début album “Thank Me Later” which is set to drop June 15th 2010! I’ve always been a fan of Drake‘s work and his second single off the album “Find Your Love” is an example of how diverse Drake is. This video and track is miles away from the style and structure of his first single “Over” off the LP. The video was shot in Kingston, Jamaica and the director of the video Anthony Mandler (who recently worked with Rihanna‘s “Te Amo”) said “Part of the objective of making this video was to do that same twist again, to give you something unexpected, not only tonality with the song but with the video thematically. It’s kind of like the anti-love love story. It’s really about crossing lines, what was said in the first scene. It’s about really understanding what’s right and what’s wrong and it’s really easy to lose that when you’re the center of attention. He did it fearlessly, he did it without any sign of hesitation. He wanted to do something that went further with the song, that took the essence of the song but communicated it with imagery that made people think, rather than go up the middle and make an obvious R&B video.”.
Drake clearly shows his dedication to his project and the anticipation is just building up to the release date of “Thank Me Later“; with Drake currently on a promotional tour around the US and then Europe Motown Records seem to be making all the right moves for the project. However I’m slightly disappointed with the album cover to “Thank Me Later“, which seems a bit rushed/cheap – u’m sure the content of the CD will make up for that. Okay so there is fresh beef surrounding “Baby” singer Justin Bieber. Mentor and talent spotter Usher has claimed he will not be giving any of P.Diddy‘s advice onto the young teen sensation who took over radio waves back in July 2009.
Usher who was mentored by P.Diddy (known then as Puff Daddy) told him that “Sex, Drugs and Alcohol would not work” for Justin Bieber image; Of course it wouldn’t, this kid is like what 7!? – I joke! He’s 16! Usher old us “I had Puff as my mentor, but I wouldn’t pass on any of the advice he gave me,” He laughed. “Hip-hop, sex, drugs and alcohol wouldn’t really work for Justin’s image. He’s headed in the right direction. I’ve told him to do everything I wouldn’t do.”. Currently Justin Bieber is ranked 5 of the best selling artists of the Island Def Jam group (averaged through digital sales and airplay).
I think Justin Bieber is just fine the way he is; if we all look back to 2006-9 where P.Diddy caused the failure of Bad Boy Entertainment and losing all three bands he made from his reality MTV series “Make The Band”; therefore I’m sure Puff is the last guy I’ll look to. Yet I still wonder when Usher says “He has this amazing talent. He has the voice, the personality, he has so many God-given talents. As he begins to open up and go out of his comfort zone in music, he’s going to get even greater.” – I honestly cannot see Justin Bieber progressing at all. No offence but i’m already tired of him! In other Bieber news (for all you Bieber fans!) sources has claimed that Justin Bieber wan’t the body to match the pop star he is (oh god!), apparently he is hiring Twilight hunk, Taylor Lautner’s personal trainer in a bid to bulk up. A spokes person said ”Justin’s positive he has the intensity and focus to get the same results as Taylor.” They added: “He’s already a megastar at 16 – now he wants the physique to go with it. He wants ripped abs, bulging biceps, and cut thighs.”. Okay…wait for it…”LOL!” At times I do wonder about this kid…i’m sure the new body and the advice off P.Diddy will really shift CDs!
R&B/Soul Super star Alicia Keys has been spotted with a much noticeable ”bump” whilst here in the UK. This couldn’t come at a more convenient time after discussing her engagement and forth coming marriage to Swizz Beats. A lot of drama has always been around Alicia Keys since Swizz Beats divorced mother of children and wife Mashonda. Sources first rumoured her pregnancy in early April when sources close to the singer said that “Alicia will need to take it east during her tour…she may be expecting”. Yet it come to mind ; if Ms Key/Beatz found out she was pregnant prior the tour why did she decided to push on with the show.
In all fairness Alicia Keys has a lot more working coming up as soon as she’s finished with the tour bus; with the re-release of “The Element of Freedom” (which was certified platinum a month ago) and up coming projects with other singers; it’s going to be hard to fit all that around when the her first child comes! In other news UPN had given Alicia the green light to create a short drama series of the life of Alicia Keys and seeing how she come from the bi-racial family who split whilst Keys was at young age and then will show her progressing into a world class act – hmm does this sound like Mariah Carey‘s “Glitter” – well I hope Alicia Keys handles this project well; things like this do not always turn out the best for acts like this. Further to say, in my opinion Alicia Keys should ditch the whole re-release project of “The Element of Freedom“; how much further can you do with that LP unless a reissue with a new track list will take place – the album will slowly become a dead end; and focus on a new LP…maybe, well just maybe? The Dream is in the final stages of releasing his new album “Love King“; although Def Jam seemed to be convinced that this is the killer album, I’m not! In all fairness The Dream is probably one of the most least progressed R&B acts out on the music scene (his stuff just sounds the same!). Without a doubt the single “Love King” could of easily be placed on his two previous albums “The American Dream” and “Love vs. Money“. It’s sad to see that one of musics greatest song writers have nearly (and mean nearly – this can be saved) has nearly become…boring!
It’s true! No one gets excited about The Dream any more, and him pushing out another album could be slightly risky; for example “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” and album produced by The Dream for Mariah Carey was an epic fail, “Glitter” did better than this project – and that’s saying something! In regards to the new single I suppose throwing on Ludacris on this might may save it! “Love King Remix” is miles better than the original single which failed to chart the billboard hot 100 (ouch!). All in all, it’s just a typical recession friendly video by The Dream. From it’s poor album cover to it’s “same-ish” produced auto tune and vocal layering tracks it’s what you would expect from an album that has not only been rushed but the budget been sucked out of it!
I hope this project works out well for The Dream; he’s a talented song-writer and at times a pretty good producer, I just don’t see why his own projects just seems to be disappointing. And also there no need to release an album after straight after “Love vs. Money” which failed to even certify Gold!
The 70s themed effort certainly serves as one of Beyonce‘s better visual offerings in some time. However, the problem lies with the fact that that isn’t saying much…at all. The video is offered nothing more than random solo shots juxtaposed together; how this was supposed connote ‘engaging’ is anyone’s guess. And to be fair i’m not too keen on the single “Why Don’t You Love Me” – so yes guys; I am disappointed, but then whatever happened to Beyonce taking a break?
This joins an ever-growing pile of Beyonce‘s videos that are sub-par (I still have nightmares about the hidden messages in the “Sweet Dreams” video). It’s a shame,with Ms. Knowles-Carter standing one of the world’s greatest entertainers, one would expect her video output to be world-class. Yes Heidi Montag did shock the world with her much un-needed plastic surgery (and you know people say to me MoMo; how you you laugh at such an awful thing…and I say – who gives a F*** this is funny!) – so yes Heidi Montag you’ve now totally lost to top that off your début album which is the biggest waste of 12 tracks that I’ve ever herd – has now gone under promotional deals at a Target (UK’s version of Primark) near you! – Of course this is how we all want to kick off our singing career…NOT!
Well now that Heidi Montag has pushed out her album (i’m not going to mention the name) her début single titled “Body Language” is now under a huge law suit from UK girl group The Saturdays where the sample of Heidi Montag‘s first single was taken from their hit “If This Is Love“. Listening to both tracts; it’s clear these people underestimated “If This Is Love” when Warner Brothers Music where picked up for allowing Heidi Montag‘s single to go forward. If things go in The Saturdays‘ favour the single may have to be recalled and thus may be leading to a change in track list for Heidi Montag‘s epic fail of an album.
In all fairness it just proves yet again; just because you have a lot of money don’t mean you can just become a singer! You need to be able to sing! And for Heidi Montag‘s who is suffering from “obsessive plastic surgery clinic visits” has seen no light at the tunnel for this project – because she covered it up with plastic! (get it? – ah I’m so funny!). So yeah Heidi Montag – looks like your face isn’t the only thing you need to rework! Troubled singer Chris Brown vowed to press today that he will continue rebuilding his career! Dispute lower than estimated sales of his current album “Graffiti” and numerous offers to cancel his world tour Chris Brown will continue to fight for his at current all time low career.
The 20 year old expressed his feeling via his Twitter page saying “If there is no forgiveness, there is no change. I’m humbled by everything.”, then followed by “If I wasn’t somewhat sane and loved my fans and music so damn much I would give up. But thats not why I was put on this earth…you’ll see!” He then ends his tweets with “Lord, let me find the strength to get out of my own way so that ur work can be done…”.
At times although I’m happy for Chris Brown acknowledging publicly his wrong doing and he’s paying for it! At times I’m glad he doesn’t let the press get to him but then I’m worried. Although Chris Brown is pushing his career to make it work and to win back not necessary his fans but the general public may lead time to have a huge break-down or career failure.
With his world tour coming up Chris Brown needs to take this opportunity to lay low for a while (which with respect he did; but not long enough) and make his come back when Rihanna is no longer on the scene. Either way things like this take time to gain back – and in Chris Brown‘s case he needs to focus now on his fans and not what seems to be like; trying to win back the public – which won’t happen any time soon!
Yes, so have you ever wonder how Britney Spears would sound singing Lady GaGa’s smash”Telephone“? If so, now you can, following the surfacing of what appears to be the Pop superstar’s unmastered demo of the Darkchild produced song.
Spears was offered the track, recorded it, yet didn’t use it, leaving it to be snapped up by GaGa not long after which lead to Lady GaGa’s ever growing success. This isn’t the first time Britney Spears rejected similar pop hits; not long ago Rihanna‘s “Umbrella” also was placed to the management of Britney Spears which later that year after recording it she shelved the entire song which was given to Rihanna at a risk.
Although Britney Spears is becoming more and more irrelevant to this day and age in music it’s proves that her legacy lives on with A-List producers are still willing to hand over their hits to singers like herself. With no other confirmed work from Britney Spears it’s hard to see her making a comeback soon after the success with singles such as “3“.
In regards to “Telephone“; I’d anyway chose Lady GaGa’s take on the record, however if you listen closely on the mastered track which Lady GaGa sings - Britney Spears lead backing vocal is still present on the tune and plays through out the chorus!
