Jennifer Lopez gets dropped from Label!

A source confirmed today that following a string of commercial chart disasters, it is being reported today thatJennifer Lopez has been dropped by long-time label Epic Records. Ouch!

The singer/actress’ manager Benny Medina is said to have confirmed the news via email to Deadline.com, asserting that the split was an amicable one; one which occurred after the 40 year old mother of two had fulfilled her contractual obligations to the label upon the release of her last single ‘Louboutins’ – which tanked terribly on the charts upon its release early this year. Lopez’s team are said to have also shot down claims that her album ‘Love?’ was already completed, insisting that it has a been at an infant stage for a while yet (despite press listening sessions, and confirmed producer credits from the likes of Danja and D Mile).

However, such suggestion of Lopez’s departure being amicable is being rubbished by some close to the project. Instead, they reveal, it was Epic who sent Lopez packing after her series of chart flops. The label are said to ‘no longer know who Lopez’s audience are any more’. Worse still, Lopez’s forthcoming LP is said to have indeed been completed and ready for release in April. Lopez is said to be in talks with LA Reid for a move to Def Jam. Dam! LA Reid loves signing drop outs!? (J-Lo new album may be shelved!).

Whitney Huston puts on a shameful performance

With over 200 people walking out of her concert last night, Whitney Huston managed – yet again! to shock us all with another disaster performance. With Whitney Huston claiming an almost sell out of the tour in all the UK venues, some fans are contemplating whether to go or not…(don’t go! save your money and watch Mariah!).

We all know Whitney’s voice hasn’t been the same ever since you know what! (thank you Bobby Brown!), but after all the money J Records had put out there to push Whitney and the consent reminder that this was her comeback, she would of stepped up her game. Okay, so being nice the “Nothing But Love” tour is the diva’s first tour in 10 years! but surely that doesn’t mean she could of got that bad…I suppose it just adds to the ever growing pile of evidence that Whitney used a lot of Studio “Tricks” on her “I Look To You” album.

I’m a bit confused (maybe she’s just ill!? – she should of mimed!) Listen and watch Whitney Huston trying to sing at her concert! (more…)

Cheryl…thank god it’s over!

Cheryl Cole has announced that she is to separate from her cheating husband Ashley Cole (amen to that sister!). Cheryl Cole’s parachute dancer Derek Hough (pictured on the left) walked out of her hotel room in the early hours of this morning. The Daily Mail Online told us that The X Factor star was said to have been comforted by the dancer, who is helping her through her marriage crisis.

Cheryl Cole’s recent trip to LA was to begin work on her second studio album (more information on that some). Cheryl’s “people” told us

Cheryl Cole is separating from her husband Ashley Cole. Cheryl asks the media to respect her privacy during this difficult time. We have no further comment to make.’ (yes get the tissues out!). Overall it’s a difficult time for Cheryl, she should start celebration – with a platinum album in the bank and good music career ahead of her (that’s if she doesn’t lip sync any more!). Can I feel a revenge single to be released!?…yes! Well Cheryl has got her Mojo back!, now she just got to fight the huge battle of who gets what at the divorce courts…(Ashley, looks like your the one who is weak, limp and lifeless!).

Okay…it’s Justin Bieber!

So while everyone is jumping on this kid like crazy (and i mean CRAZY!), lets take a few minutes to remind ourselves who this Justin kid is!

He was discovered on YouTube by Scooter Braun, who later became his manager. Braun flew Bieber to Atlanta, to consult with Usher and soon signed a record deal with Island Records, where he began his professional career. His first album “My World” didn’t preform well on the Billboard charts in the first three opening weeks, however later on the album was certified platinum (oh goodie!).

I’m not going to say i’m hating on this kid! but being 15 and singing some of these songs i’m slightly disturbed! Although Bieber’s main target audience are young teenagers, that doesn’t stop Island Records from putting Usher, Drake and Ludacris (oh my!). But for his fan’s MoMo has confirmed there will be a world tour, and more details will be released by the Island Def Jam Music Group

Mariah Returns To The 90s 100%

Mariah released her new single “100%” (which was not on her latest LP “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel). The video was shot during her tour in Canada. Overall the video reminds me of the “Without You” video (also shot during a performance in Madison Square Garden).

Mariah has had a lot of criticism thrown her way, in regards to her poor sales with the “Memoirs” album and her continuous effort to push a tour and a remix album which isn’t at all needed – as some say! With rumours still warm that Mariah may be ready to leave Def Jam and possible sign back to Sony or Warner Brothers it may be the right time for Mariah to take career direction change.

There is no harm if Mariah were to take a few years out (raise a family maybe?) and then prepare a comeback album. Being a Mariah fan myself, the days of Mariah R&B career are starting to wither – that doesn’t mean we need to re-brand Mariah, maybe just to return to the 90s (the ballads, music box, Daydream and butterfly!), and this is what she achieved in her new music video to “100%” watch here (more…)
