Up Out My Face!!!

Okay – so Mariah Carey dropped her huge R&B single titled “Up Out My Face” featuring Nicki Minaj. The song will appear on her remix album for “Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel” titled “Angels Advocate”. Despite the poor  reception of “Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel” MiMi’s tour sold out within a few days of sale. Mariah Carey isn’t taking herself too seriously in this video (which at times is a problem…sweeties y’all gonna be hitting 40 soon!).

So, the video reminds me slightly of “Touch My Body” – but then it’s clear that the days of when Mariah Carey rocked R&B are long gone and she should settle down for her ballads, which will all soon be a lot easier as she is planning to leave the Island Def Jam music group and possibly fly to Warner Bros or even back to her home (after all they have the all the rights and she’s still their biggest selling artist even though she’s no longer there) Sony Columbia! Either way, Mariah needs to go back to her 90′s self, videos like this can only come around once…and I mean once Mariah!

“Did Rihanna Use My Child For Publicity?”

“Come here, rude boy boy, Can you get it up? Come here, rude boy boy, Is you big enough? Take it, take it, Baby, baby Take it, take it.
Love me, love me” is what Rihanna seems to be telling everyone. Yes “Rude Boy” has been climbing on the charts and Rihanna’s commercial success only seems to be getting bigger and bigger (just like the you know what she’s referring to in this song!). I think it’s also safe to say she has stopped talking (and going on and on and on and on and you get the picture) about how her life has been so crazy (in relation to the Chirihanna indecent).

But a few domestic violence awareness adverts later, everything seems okay – Rihanna has also found her new love interest, Matt Kemp who plays Baseball for the LA Dodgers. However! A few months ago, Rihanna took part in a campaign to raise awareness for the plight of 7 year old Jasmine Anema who was dying of leukemia. Now, a month after the child has passed away, her mother, Karen Detrick, has accused Rihanna possibly of using her daughter’s illness for publicity. saying via Twitter “It’s been a month since Jasmine’s passing, still not even a card or text message from Rihanna – did she use child for a publicity stunt!?

Only Rihanna and her team know the real motive behind helping Anema. However, if what Detrick is saying is true, it does indeed seem inconsiderate that the Bajan has not reached out to the grieving family. Maybe Rihanna should take 5 minutes betweentalking about Chris Brown and performing in her underwear to address the issue by contacting Detrick privately.

Cash Money, No Money!

To everyone’s surprise Jay Sean was bought out of Cash Money Records (below his estimated market value) and his entire management team switched over the Island Records. With many music critics in the states claim that Jay Sean was a one hit wonder have already started talking about shelving his next album which is currently under production.

With that aside, Jay Sean in the UK has a huge fan base – however that still doesn’t  answer the question why he failed get his album “All or Nothing” to even certify copper (let alone platinum). Cash Money Records seemed to put on a poor promotional tour, and with only experience in hardcore rap artists, they’ve lost their only “pop” act. I think there has been a break down between the fans and the artist, ever since Jay Sean left his original home (Rishi Rich Productions), meaning since signing to Cash Money some one got a little too big for their boots! Hopefully Island will re-brand and calm Jay Sean down, competition is tough out there! Bring on the come back album!

Make some noise for Luda!

Despite early production problems Ludacris’ new album “Battle of the Sexes” will be ready for realise 9th March 2010. This will be the seventh album from the Atlanta rapper. Originally due in 2009, Battle of the Sexes was tagged as a collaboration album by Ludacris and label-mate Shawnna. A promotional single titled “Everybody Drunk as Fuck” which features vocals from Shawnna was released in April 2009. Shawnna reportedly split from Disturbing tha Peace in 2009 and signed to Nappy Boy Entertainment. It was later reported that Shawnna was removed from the album and became a solo album by Ludacris with guest appearances.

After the good reception of the album’s first single “How Low“, and the new single featuring Nicki Minaj “My Chick Bad” is currently in heavy circulation across all major R&B and Hip-Hop radio stations.  In addition to this Ludacris will also be touring with The Blacked Eyed Peas as an opening act (wow when did you drop to an opening act!?).

Forgive me if i’m wrong, but I am slightly worried for Ludacris – first of all seeing him feature in a Justin Beiber track and then be seen in his video sends his original fans a bit crazy, has he turned into a commercial wrapper just like Kanye West!? Although Def Jam and Disturbing the Peace are putting in a lot of effort not to mess with the brand of Ludacris, desperate times call for desperate measures! Alicia Keys talks about her “Freedom Tour”

While we are still waiting for the video to “Put It In A Love Song” and celebrating the success of “The Element of Freedom“, we caught up with Alicia Keys and she told us about her “Freedom Tour” comming to the UK this May. Alicia Keys also says that this is one of her biggest tours yet – in comparison the  tour’s budget has been twice the value of Beyonce’s “I Am…” tour.  It seems from the video and other sources the most of the money is being spend of the huge visual display units being placed all over the stage (erm okay…).

All in all, i’m looking forward to see Alicia on this tour, she always without fail puts on a strong show from start to end, and opening act rumoured to be Drake will definitely sell seats. With tickets for the tour in the UK been on sale since January and still haven’t sold out her 3 shows there might be some worry for Alicia Keys. From what some sources are telling us that productivity is falling behind and with no official set list being put together (meaning she could change the songs on the night) – this concert could go either way!
